'Out of Sight'. A playful, sexy, romantic, comic caper oozing charm and appeal through its well-rounded characters and a central relationship that works superbly.
Two scenes stood out.
I'll declare one the best accidental death I've seen on screen, while I rack my brain to thin... read more -

A smooth talking bank robber develops an infatuation with the beautiful US Marshall who is tracking him. Out Of Sight is the film in which we saw the first glimpse of what George Clooney was capable of and is clearly where the seeds of the Ocean's franchise were sown. It's a smar... read more

October 27, 2011fb1664868775The first great caper film directed by Steven Soderbergh, with a style that he would further explore in his "Ocean's" films.

Adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel, Out of Sight is a sexy noirish love story disguised as a heist film. This has a great cast of characters, and in retrospect, almost feels like a prequel to Ocean's Eleven - but in style only. Soderbergh does some good character work here, even... read more

Out of Sight is a sexy, twisty, non-linear crime flick with a great cast. There are very heavy influences of Pulp Fiction here, and it's pretty entertaining at times, but I've seen better similar movies.

A pretty good movie. Clooney and Lopez had real chemistry together. The plot was fun. Sometimes it got boring and off track, and the minor characters were not acting material. But other than that a good movie, you should check it out.

Steven Soderbergh's "Out of Sight" is an energetic and stylish ode to Elmore Leonard. I can't seem to think of another Leonard adaptation that feels so much like the author's work. All the elements of cinema are used to their fullest extent to create a cohesive and sexy final pro... read more

This film is much more about the romantic envolvement of the two main characters than it is about the bank robberies/heists. It does lack in excitement and it is pretty much what you would expect from pairing Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney up, although Clooney?s character doe... read more

OUT OF SIGHT has Steven Soderbergh written all over it. From the editing, the shots, the music, the style to the overall coolness, the movie is undeniably his, even if it's not original material (the film's based on Elmore Leonard's novel).
Sexy, fun flick is infinitely enjoyabl... read more

From the first shot to the last, Mr. Clooney is in complete command of the screen in the assured manner of the biggest stars in the past, and he doesn't need a ton of special effects and digital enhan... Full Review
Out of Sight may go down in the annals of film as the movie in which George Clooney learned to keep his head still -- and became a leading man. Full Review
Out of Sight isn't just a rousing piece of entertainment, it's also a cinematic salvage operation. Full Review
As always with the best of Leonard, it's the journey, not the destination, that counts, and director Soderbergh has let it unfold with dry wit and great skill. Full Review
Steven Soderbergh's best film since Sex, Lies and Videotape a decade ago. Full Review
It's refreshing to find a picture like Out of Sight, which is not only smart, but a great deal of fun, as well. Full Review
Soderbergh takes real delight in giving his stars the star treatment. Full Review
Some reviewers have applauded Out of Sight for its nuances of character, but I and others don't see any characters at all. Full Review
Like Get Shorty, Out of Sight has been adapted with deftness and fidelity by Scott Frank, who knows exactly how to translate Leonard's narrative voice to the screen. Full Review
