This film is mostly watchable because Paul Rudd charmed the pants off me. I really like that they made his character lovably aloof as opposed to having him be incomprehensibly dim and having that be the sole source of comedy. Also, the film provides enough laughs to keep you ente... read more

Since I am the idiot brother in my family.... how could I NOT LOVE this movie. Paul Rudd is OUTSTANDING in the role as Ned. Ned has an innocence that humanity NEEDS to embrace!!

a great cast, a few solid laughs, and a decent concept were not near enough to save this lack luster film. ultimately it keeps leaning towards an immense potential that it never hits.

My Idiot Brother is an offbeat comedy that has a great cast, but it's a little too formulaic and cut-and-dry to be better than "okay". Keep in mind that it's more subtle than slapstick, and you'll be fine. Especially if you're a Paul Rudd fan (like I am).

Whereas most comedies these days go for the easy laughs and recycled shtick, "Our Idiot Brother" does something completely different. It strives to be the sweetest, fuzziest, most warm-hearted R rated comedy imaginable and completely succeeds! The film is as light as a feather, b... read more

Bland, simple, annoying, and nearing pointlessness - OUR IDIOT BROTHER is idiotic in its own direction, as it so often feels that it doesn't have one. Pretensions in purpose, it meekly masquerades as a journey of change and accepting the gratitude and intentions of those around y... read more

Ned is probably the nicest guy ever. He's a good natured, laid back hippie, and even though he might be too trusting, and a little too honest, his heart's in the right place, and his optimistic outlook on life is just too charming to not get into. Contrary to the title, he's not ... read more

Alex is right on with his review. It did seem like a bunch of friends who wanted to get together and make a movie. The thing is that all of the friends are really talented and charming so it makes for a good watching experience. The core of the story has some real potential (the ... read more

Strange, then, how Our Idiot Brother wastes its lone asset -- there's not enough idiot, and far too many boring savants. Full Review
It's rare that summer ends on as sweet a note as Our Idiot Brother. Full Review
The cast members, beginning with Rudd, have an improvisatory ease, and the director, Jesse Peretz, working from a script by Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall, doesn't indulge in the sort of nail-on-t... Full Review
The film goes far on its good nature, though it is never more than gently funny. Full Review
A film that offers dumb fun, but in reality may be crazy like a fox. Full Review
Rudd has created a genuinely engaging character in the Candide-like Ned, but "Our Idiot Brother" gives him very little garden to cultivate. Full Review
Despite a pleasantly laid-back demeanor, you wish it would just get focused. Full Review
It's a warm, intelligent and highly contemporary comedy with just the right amount of edge, a terrific ensemble cast and a big, fuzzy golden retriever ready to knock you down and lick you like a giant... Full Review
