As the story proper opens, the landscape of the world has changed immeasurably. Mankind is divided into two warring factions: one that seeks a peaceful, harmonious balance with the forest, and another that wishes to dominate and control it. Agito, the young hero of the story, unwittingly triggers the destruction of all that lies before him by awakening Toola from her slumber. Agitated at the degree to which civilization has changed, Toola summons an eons-old technology to rebuild the future based on the design of a past civilization. Agito then seeks the forest's blessing before attempting to rescue the girl from her own destructive desires. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Studio Gonzo's first attempt at a large scale "Anime" with such a creative idea shattered into a million pieces and this time no one can put it together. First of all I don't get into "Anime" But I do get into Post-apocalyptic movie so I was sure to have a look, personally one of... read more my all time favorite movies is the Italian Epic "2019: After the Fall of New York" so I was bound to check this out. And it failed once again the idea was just all wrong and stealing other peoples stuff and sticking it into an uncreative story just doesn't work Okay.

So 300 years into the future and forests (Like machines) have become smarter then people and they wish to be the leading race to overthrow the earth. And water is becoming more scares then anything, The world balance is tipped when a young boy named Agito stumbles across a machine that glowed in a strange blue hue inside a forbidden sanctuary. The machine, which has preserved a beautiful girl named Tula from the past, is activated. Tula has a "mission" that had been entrusted to her by the past...

First of all the story was shit confusing unfocussed to what is was meant to be doing and telling. Like I said there just stealing idea's from others films to put into there screen play even using obscure live action films. But has anyone but me seen that if the trees are dominating the earth? How are they living without water?

You know that stunning artwork with the two people standing in front of a ruined Building? Yeah that came from a movie by "Enzo G. Castellari" called the "1990 Bronx warriors". Just another example of what they stole. But they just stuck in reverse.

The voice dubbing in the film is okay when it comes to synch of course but the voice stars are horrible. I mean they so sound different to what there character should be like right?

Besides are mysterious lead the characters are bad with no read detail on them, Before I enjoy a movie or watching one I like to know a bit about them and also besides how bad they look.

And the animation is just shit awful nothing but the overuse of CGI on traditional animated people which just rapes the film. I like the Studio Ghibli backgrounds and animation nothing but epic traditional stuff with spirit to it. I like to see real hard worked on backgrounds rather then this stupid CGI shit.

I once saw Stunning backgrounds to the studio Ghibli short Iblard Time with nothing but 30 minutes of fantasy scenery that looked nothing short of inspiraring unlike this movie.

The music was okay at best nothing really good though, I rather just re-edit the movie and stick "Metallica" sound tracks on it at least something would be good.

So I close and say waste of money and time and stay the heel away form this piece of shit.

Would have been a fantastic idea and movie that could have somewhat been better then the studio Ghibli movies but I felt it fails like tales from earthsea. I got it on blue ray missing out of its release thinking it look amazing from its cover and sounds like it had a great story... read more but truth be told it was boring and slow and lacks.

It is 300 years into the future. Earth's environment had been devastated by mankind's own foolish plans and humankind is beleaguered by the sentient forests which they have awoken. The world balance is tipped when a young boy named Agito stumbles across a machine that glowed in a strange blue hue inside a forbidden sanctuary. The machine, which has preserved a beautiful girl named Tula from the past, is activated. Tula has a "mission" that had been entrusted to her by the past

That's what it says at the back of my blue ray cover sounds incredible and the back looks amazing but its not. Main problems is just everything some things are good other times your bored about how slow it is.

50% for story slow, boring but had somewhat of a brilliant idea.

80% for acting (dubbing) somewhat the best part about the film

60% for animation it's not very lively or amazing but it just looks good.

30% for characters they were promising but failed

40% for everything else the music was okay best part about it

Could have had a great idea that was to promising to be true and its up to you weather you would like to watch.

    Keiko's score 49-100

Quality manga showcasing some gorgeous artwork whereby nature has taken back the world and man lives in the crumbling remnants of cities, having developed an equilibirum with the forests... that is until a girl from the past is awoken with the potential to undo everything. Aside ... read morefrom the exquisitely detailed animation, there is also a good story here and plenty of action. Recommended.

This movie at first started out a little interesting and had some comedy in it; but the story line was really bad. I have seen better anime movies than this one. I think that the story line just needed a little more depth to it. I wouldn't recommend it.

A breathless anime that keeps moving and looks great! Made by Gonzo as part of their 25th anniversary specials, this one is about a future that is in time with nature, but a ruthless society wants to get all the technology back and revert to how things use to be. Guided by Agaito... read more, a girl recently awoken from cryogenic sleep comes furth to help stop them. Fun and action-packed, with a great score.

I love the anime drawings, just not a fan for the movies. It was more irratating as almost all the girls' voices were high pitched and annoying. The plot was interesting but I just didn't enjoy the film much.
