Jackie Chan takes a break from police thrillers featuring kung-fu and wild stunts to star and direct this action-adventure yarn featuring kung-fu and wild stunts. Chan plays Jackie, aka the Asian Hawk... read more read more..., an Indiana Jones-style adventurer looking to make a fortune finding exotic antiquities. After discovering a mysterious sword in Africa, a band of Satan-worshipping monks kidnap Jackie's ex-girlfriend Lorelei (Rosamund Kwan), demanding as ransom the sword and other pieces of the legendary Armour of God -- a reportedly magical outfit dating back to the Crusades. He manages to get the objects in question from wealthy collector Bannon (Bozidar Smiljanic), and together with Bannon's daughter May (Lola Forner) and, of course, Hong Kong rock star Alan (Alan Tam), the three head out to rescue Lorelei. When they do, they discover too late that she has been brainwashed. She drugs Alan, taking him and the armor back to the monastery. Jackie is forced to take on an army of satanic monks single-handedly. This film is perhaps best remembered as the shoot that almost killed Jackie Chan. While jumping from one tree to another, he slipped and plunged almost 40 feet landing on his head. True to hallowed Hong Kong tradition, that outtake along with dozens of others is included at the end of the film. This film was released in the States under the misleading title Operation Condor 2: The Armour of the Gods, even though the supposed original Operation Condor was made four years afterwards. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

The film that almost kills Jackie, watch it mostly for the final act, and the chase sequence. Some good of locations, but Alan Tam is highly annoying in his sidekick role. On the good side, Jackie beats some monks, and rides a very rad 80s car.

A brilliant low budget Jackie Chan classic. Some amazing fight scenes in this!

Excellent Jackie Chan movie, one of his best

Jackie Chan has amazing fight scenes with a hall full of monks and a quartet of eccentric assassins: high-heeled 70s blaxploitation vixans.

The two Asian Hawk movies are intended to be a blend of James Bond and Indiana Jones with a creamy kung fu frosting. This is the first, and better of, the two movies. From an American standpoint the plot is very lacking, but everyone knows you don't watch kung fu movies for an en... read moregaging story. Kung fu movies are rented and purchased to watch people get kicked in the face. From that perspective, this is an awesome movie. The fight in the monastery dining hall is one of Jackie's best. Alan Tam consistently does a very good job of clumsily getting himself into more trouble than he can handle and Lola Forner is the perfect foil for the overly sexist Asian Hawk. I don't think this is one of Jackie's best movies, but it still remains one of my favorites.

Im assuming the first "condor" is better? The other movies of Jackie's i've seen have been more fun. I dug the goofy Bondesque aspects like his car... and the car within his car!

Not as good as the other Operation Condor but still a pretty good film. Jackie Chan delivers both the action and the comedy like usual. This one lacks a good female companion to hang around with Jackie and help him and thats what made the other Operation Condor more enjoyable. This is a good as most of his others. Not the brilliance of Project A of the intensity of Police Story but amazing in almost every way.

Jackie gets one of his worst injuries in the opening sceen-- check out the out takes. Great stunt work. The fight with the 3 women at the end is epic.

Plenty fun: as per the Jackie Chan standard, it's total nonsense, but unpretentiously entertaining and occasionally ingenious. [Blu-ray] Full Review

The film hits escape velocity, moving straight from one phenomenal set piece to another, with no room between to catch your breath. Full Review

There's little action during most of the film besides a so-so car chase and unambitous fights. Still, the film's finale is action packed and hilarious, as Jackie faces a monastery packed with bad guys. Full Review

Overflowing with Chan's trademark stunt setpieces (not to mention his own goony brand of extremely broad slapstick), the film's a dazzler... Full Review

An excellent example of Chan at his comic/kick-'em-up best, blending elements of both James Bond and Indiana Jones, along with the requisite zany fights and stunts. Full Review
