Even without money problems, many divorced single parents have a hard row to hoe. At the drop of a hat, a competent, responsible professional person can be reduced to a frazzled, bumbling parent, when... read more read more... his or her children become unexpected daytime wards. This is what happens to Jack Taylor (George Clooney) when his ex-wife suddenly decides to elope, leaving their daughter with him. Unhappily for him, his reporting job demands one-hundred-percent commitment as he attempts to link corruption with city hall. The same sort of thing is true in the life of architect Melanie Parker (Michelle Pfeiffer). She must not only somehow prepare a complex multimillion-dollar real-estate development presentation, but must also keep up the pretense that she doesn't have a son because her boss loathes children. When Jack flubs his assignment of getting the two children off on a school day-trip, he and Melanie, who barely know each other, have to take turns caring for the kids. Mishap follows mishap, as the initially antagonistic Jack and Melanie get to know one another. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

A beautifull movie with tiny bit, romance, comdey and senti moments.
  • September 25, 2009
A very clichéd love story about two unlikable people who are miserable. This film belongs in the 1950's, even then it would fail because there was much better out there!

I love this moive about two very different single parents who meet one day when their kids miss their school trip. Great cast. Sweet movie. A bit like Serendipity.
  • January 22, 2007
    boring but not terrible romance
  • January 3, 2007
Inoffensive by the numbers rom-com. Utterly predictable of course, but Clooney and Pfeiffer make a nice couple and it has more charm than most of this type.

Forgot the title of this film. Saw it on TV and you just get sucked in. Very easy to watch with a good mix of humour and romance.
  • November 15, 2006
Good misadventure comedy of two divorced parents with their children.
  • June 12, 2008
Super funny movie. Warm, and entertaining.
  • June 26, 2009
Watching a movie while talking on the phone with somebody can be pretty special. Finally a modern romantic comedy with a modern romantic formula.

One Fine Day is two formulaic hours, but they do illustrate how two attractive leads and a lickety-split narrative can elevate meager material into something this side of bearability.

Privilege and coincidence have always been central to screwball comedy, but the speed of crosstown travel here rivals Die Hard 3 for plausibility. Full Review

Excellent romantic comedy. Exciting story of adults trying to succeed in careers with the drawbacks of children.

Silky smooth romantic comedy, with Pfieffer and Clooney at their most charming.
