Overweight scientific genius Sherman Klump and his extended family are back in this sequel to the 1996 comedy smash The Nutty Professor. Sherman has also found time for a social life and has fallen in love with Denise Gains (Janet Jackson), a brilliant woman involved in DNA research. Sherman and Denise are engaged, but Sherman is still troubled by Buddy Love, the dark side of his personality that he wants to purge from his psyche forever. He persuades Denise to help him by splicing Buddy out of his DNA structure, but the experiment doesn't go as planned: instead of destroying Buddy, Sherman and Denise free him, and Buddy's first order of business is to get his hands on Sherman's youth serum, which Sherman has hidden at his family's house. In addition to Klump and Love, Murphy also plays Mama, Papa, Grandma, and nephew Ernie Klump, thanks to the makeup magic of Rick Baker. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Sure it had some good laughs, but it was just more of the same ol same.

I found that this sequel to the Nutty Professor was lacking considering that the first film was a lot of fun, funny and entertaining. The film is decent, but is also fairly lazy compared to the first one. They tried too hard at outdoing the first film, and they ended up with anot... read moreher sub-par sequel. This is very often the case with most sequels. Filmmakers try to outdo the first, but they fail to capture key elements that made the first film so special. The Nutty Professor II is a decent enough comedy, but it really doesn't do anything new or exciting with the material. Eddie Murphy is good here, however I feel that he's past his prime, and he should've retired after this film was made. The guy isn't what he used to be. The film funny, but the humor is tiresome at times, and you see that the screenwriters tried too hard at outdoing the first film. This sequel still manages to make you laugh, but with less effective results. I enjoyed the first film a lot more and despite the fact that this is somewhat decent, Nutty Professor II could have been much better. The film has laughs here and there, and for the moist part is decent enough to be entertaining, but as yet another sequel to a smash comedy, this film fails to be as funny as the first film. Nutty Professor II is worth watching, but it's nowhere near the first film, which was very funny, original and brought on big laughs.

Its worth a viewing because its fun to see Murphy playing the Klump family again making more jokes, ultimately the script isnt as good as the original and Murphy does sell out on this one but godamn it. It still made me laugh. Worth a viewing though for sure

Weak script, bad direction, bad acting, poor film. At least, The Klumps, sometimes apparently looks a fun picture. Rotten.

i rented it from starz on demands once when i was almost ready to go to bed i fell asleep right after the movie. It was an joke that got old very fast. I think everyone went from loving Eddie Murphy's multiple performance family portrayal to hating it because it was just beaten to death. The humor got even more cheap, resorting to scenes devoted to farting. This really marked the downfall o... read moref Eddie Murphy.

It's Eddie Murphy's brilliant character acting vs. Eddie Murphy in a fat suit. Unfortunately Mr. Murphy hasn't been good at the whole character thing since Coming to America (Via Bowfinger), and fat suits and fart gags rule here. Needless to say, I didn't like it. The story is al... read moreso just plain odd. It's become far removed from the Original Jerry Lewis film. Maybe it could have been good if given to Frank Henenlotter in 1983 with a small budget but that would just be stupid and impossible. Avoid! *Also note to future filmmakers, Janet Jackson a good love interest does not make ? EVER! *shudders at the thought*

"Nutty Professor II - The Klumps" is a hilarious sequel to the first movie in the series that starred Eddie Murphy. This movie isn't anything like the first one though. In "Nutty Professor II - The Klumps," you better believe the title because that's what you're getting in this s... read moreequel is more of the Klumps, you'll get to know each one of the Klumps that you saw at the dinner table in the first movie a lot better and in more detail this time around. Professor Klump has invented a new formula that will make whoever or whatever drinks it, a lot younger. But this new invention won't go through without any competition because (yep you guessed it), Buddy Love is back in this sequel to try and meddle around with Professor Klump's genius ideas.
"Nutty Professor II - The Klumps" is just as funny as the first movie, and maybe even a little bit funnier. To say the least, Eddie Murphy did a great job portraying every member of the Klump family. Janet Jackson also does a good job in her role. The only downfall to "Nutty Professor II" is that it isn't as groundbreaking or as original as the first movie, but it is just as entertaining and just as hilarious. It also has good special effects. If you liked "The Nutty Professor" or if you like hilarious comedy movies, I definitely recommend getting "Nutty Professor II - The Klumps." NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2001. Not bad, just nowhere near the original. It's bad when a naked baby is just as funny as any other part in the movie.
