I actually suprised myself with how much I enjoyed and liked this film. At first I wasn't that impressed as all the pieces of footage seemed random but as all the threads started to come together and we started to learn about Kagutaba I began to really get into it.

The only t... read morehing that I'm not keen was the psychic; the actor was very believable and clearly talented but the character seemed so distressed all the time it felt cruel that the reporter was using him so much.

The film is definitely creepy and scary, but it also very smartly goes building tension and suspense slowly, grabbing clues left and right and letting the puzzle pieces come together; the problem is, though, that by the end the puzzles don't seem all that clear as to what they sa... read morey, but it was a fun ride anyway.

An inventive japanese evil spirit horror flick that builds momentum as the mystery unravels; shot documentary style ala "Blair Witch Project", this film looks and feels totally believable which adds to the eeriness and weirdness. Thrilling and chilling and keeps the viewer immer... read moresed the further the story develops and is understood....highly recommended.

Another great Japanese ghost story. This one is really creepy, using the 1st person style of storytelling. First rate pacing and some images that will stay with you.

One of my absolute favorites of the found footage/mockumentary horror sub-genre, Noroi represents Shiraishi's most successful foray into the genre as he blends a series of bizarre and seemingly unrelated characters and events together into one larger, paranormal occurrence. Stra... read morenge and creepy, Noroi will keep you guessing from one moment to the next and continually suprise you on the long, strange, scary, and stylish march towards its conclusion.

Why 4? Cos it is super creepy despite the low-budget makes bad special effect and kinda ruins everything. One thing about Asian horror: watch it alone to make it work. When it does not make u feel like u wanna pause it for a second to take a breath, then it's bad. This movie righ... read moret here is one of the creepiest horror Japanese horror I've ever watched after a long time.

An excellent, if not lengthy, use of the documentary-style horror as a means of relating a story. In traditional storytelling methods this film's story, involving an angry demon and a cursed town, would have seemed run-of-the-mill and formulaic. The hand-held aspect works marvelo... read moreusly to add to the intrigue of the film, as you proceed to uncover information along with the viewer's avatar in the film, Kobayashi. Definitely one that will stay with you.

Wow, this surprised me. I went in only really knowing it's like a Japanese version of The Blair Witch, but it is much more and much better, if you ask me. This feels more real. It's pretty slow but the creepiness factor is in there, full tilt. Including a scene that's still, abou... read moret forty minutes after it's over, creepin' me the hell out.

waaayyy scarier than Blair Witch. the plot is pretty easy to follow despite a sort of confusing ending. great build-up with clues leading to a climax. i liked how they stick in different video footages with the subtitles. the performances were remarkable, especially by Mr. Nori, ... read morea very interesting character. even the music and supernatural noises adds to the creepy atmosphere and the sudden blackouts. i was pretty disturbed by some scenes, they were so terrifying! the end was a memorable finish, it was the ultimate shocker, so freaking scary. it sent shivers down my spine. this movie definitely left a strong impression on me. its creepy style is one that gives not just terror but also dread, like ur heart just drops. its quite realistic.

Terrifying. One of the scariest movies I have ever seen in m life. It made me hide the covors over my head. It doesnt use loud noises or pop-out killers to scre you. It uses the atmosphere which is the most scariest atmosphere I have experienced in a film in long long time. Wath... read more it now. You wont regret this.
