A beautiful but reserved criminal psychiatrist must deal with the obsessive stalking of a dangerous killer in this erotically charged thriller. The film's central tension emerges from the relationship... read more read more... between Dr. Sarah Taylor (Rebecca DeMornay), a highly professional psychologist, and a handsome stranger, Tony Ramirez (Antonio Banderas). After randomly encountering Tony in a supermarket, the normally aloof Sarah lets her guard down and embarks on a passionate sexual affair with the Latino charmer. Soon afterward, however, Sarah receives a series of disturbing threats from an unknown stalker. Her suspicions immediately fall on Tony, as she realizes how little she knows about her new lover. Her fear throws a shadow over their relationship, and her doubts increase as she learns more about Tony's dangerous past. Director Peter J. Hall maintains a fast pace and attempts to keep audiences guessing, introducing additional suspects from an imprisoned serial killer (Harry Dean Stanton) to the next-door neighbor (Dennis Miller). The characters rarely transcend standard thriller types, and the uneven screenplay does not have a satisfying ending, but the chemistry between DeMornay and Banderas may keep their fans interested along the way. ~ Judd Blaise, Rovi

I mean it was good enough for a movie to watch on TV in the middle of the night. I did get fooled by the ending, no matter how implausible it was. I kept thinking I had it figured out but then thinking that was too obvious so I'd think something else but I never did get it right.

Never Talk to Strangers, starring Rebecca De Mornay and Antonio Banderas is a good thriller of one man's deadly obession.

Good suspense film, great ending. Rebecca De Mornay was kinda sexy back in the 90's, and her performance was excellent.

Even though he has mullet-like hair, Antonio Banderas's ass is sweet and you get to see a lot of it. The movie itself was just ok..a little too easy to figure out.

She plays a psychiatrist evaluating whether an accused serial killer is competent to stand trial. It becomes obvious early on that she was drawn to psychiatry because of her own severe emotional problems and difficult past. In the meantime, we are shown troubling relationships wi... read moreth men appearing in her personal life. An upstairs neighbor badly wants her, but she wants only to be friends. Her father shows up out of the blue seeking affection and assistance, but she resists him, and it is obvious that their relationship and her childhood were deeply troubled. A stranger (Banderas) she meets in a store ardently pursues her, and they begin an affair, but she has difficulty trusting him, both because he is something of a suspicious character and because, as she tells him, she has difficulty trusting anybody. Their relationship becomes volatile and angry, tinged with violent overtones. Then there is the issue of her ex-fiancé, who vanished abruptly and without explanation just before the scheduled wedding. As happens in these kinds of films, she is sent a series of mysterious messages and packages with no return addresses. Then violent things start to occur. Someone is clearly trying to terrorize her, but who? So many suspects -- Banderas? The upstairs neighbor (who is of course jealous of Banderas)? The serial killer, acting through friends outside of prison? Her father? The ex-fiancée? I did not anticipate the answer to this question, revealed of course at the film's end, but it was not an especially unusual conclusion for films of this kind. What made this picture worthwhile was De Mornay's utterly believable portrayal of, let us say, a difficult character, reminiscent of what she did in "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle". She is simply great at this kind of thing, besides being classically gorgeous. The acting is top notch and the plot is full of satisfying twists and turns. If you are in the mood for a strong, solid thriller then this ought to be a top choice.

I have always had a difficult time seeing Antonio play an evil guy. At least in Desperado his Il Mariachi roles you could embrace him. Stick with the good-guy roles Puss in Boots.

Oh my gosh. I went to the movies to see this on my first date with my husband. Talk about embarassing. NUDITY! Sex! It was not that good of a movie. And it was so embarassing.

it is a good movie,it shows how one have to be very careful in dealing with women issue, even after getting married to them.one have to known more about a women before marring them.it is a good movie indeed, and of course the title should have been beware of women.

Excellent! Rebecca De Mornay is a great foil to Antonio Banderas in this sexually charged thriller. It will keep you guessing until the end and even then you'll be shocked at the truth!

Sometimes things are not as they seem. I like that idea. Rebecca did a really good job! And of course, Antonio did too, besides being the hotest latino alive.

It's an easy-to-watch movie that will be even easier on video, where it should turn up any minute. Full Review

It's mysterious and sexy enough to keep tension alive until, too bad, the whole thing collapses with a twist ending that is nearly laughable. Full Review

[Hall] can't triumph over the problems in the script, or tie up all the loose ends, but his brisk, competent approach does minimize the effects of these flaws. Full Review

Here's a sure method to guess whodunnit in bad mystery thrillers: pick the suspect most likely to shock the audience and you have the killer. Full Review

TV Guide's Movie Guide

It's basically a direct-to-video erotic thriller blown up to big-screen proportions, but the stars are attractive and it's passably entertaining -- right up to the ridiculous twist ending. Full Review

An adequate psychological thriller on a topical theme -- Repressed Memory Syndrome -- but with little special quality, few frills or thrills, and a relaxed, almost languid exposition. Full Review

There's plenty of sex. There's little plot. There's reason to watch something else.
