Based on horror author H.P. Lovecraft's writings, Necronomicon: Book of the Dead includes three short stories devoted to the deadly and mysterious "Necronomicon." When Lovecraft (played by Jeffrey Com... read more read more...bs) manages to smuggle the legendary book out of a heavily guarded library, he quickly finds himself immersed in its passages, and three short stories take form as he sets off to record the information. In the first, Bruce Payne plays a disgruntled man whose inheritance of an old motel turns out to be more than he bargained for, as there are a nasty group of demons populating its basement. The second story follows a young reporter in search of a doctor who allegedly found the path to immortality, though, like the unwitting motel owner, he wouldn't realize how far in over his head he was until it became too late. The last story features Signy Coleman as a tough-as-nails police officer who descends into a strange set of catacombs in order to find her missing partner -- little does she know that an infamous serial killer is already living inside its subterranean depths. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

This is a nice horror anthology about the things the Necronomicon has seen. If you like Cat's Eye, Tales from the Darkside the movie, or Trick R Treat then I think you would enjoy the Necronomicon.

We all have heard about this infamous book. So who among us has seen the movie. Well I just watched and wasn't too disappointed. It's a movie about H. P. Lovecraft reading stories from the necronomicon. Pro's: The acting is good, direction also good, and the effects are real... read morely well used. Con's: Well there's not many cons, so I'll just say this. The stories they selected aren't stories you would know off the top of your head. If they are indeed Lovecraft stories at all. I'm unsure, but that's about it. Oh, the timeline seems to jump around a lot. I'm not sure if this intentional to say that the book exists forever or if they didn't think we would mind. I don't really mind it, but it does tend to make pinning down the timelines a little difficult. So pick it up, Jeffery Combs stars as Lovecraft. So if your a fan (as I am) he does a good job with the little scenes he's given.

This movie is full of great special effects and awesome stories. The gore and slime flow like wine and the characters are insanely weird. Must see for horror fans but i could see how Lovecraft fans dont like it

Though not as good as it could have been, there are some very good scenes to be had. The marrow suckers, now that is a twist that tingles most ppls sensations lol.

The rest of this movie is pretty forgettable, save for the last story....which MESSES with me to this day.

It's sad that such a good possibility for a movie turns out so pathetic. Three stories based (loosely) on Lovecrafts work. The tales are poorly translated and even the effects for the most part are disappointing. Though I will say the Deep One in the first story (I think) is f... read moreaithful and nicely executed.

The dude from the Re-Animator stars in this and it is broken up into three different stories so the movie keeps rolling right along.

It's very, very Lovecraftian, and very, very bad.
