Nadine Hightower (Kim Basinger), who is... read more read more... significantly more beautiful than intelligent, is fast-talked into posing for some cheesecake pictures by sleazy photographer Raymond Escobar (Jerry Stiller). When Nadine learns that Escobar plans to use the pictures for a set of racy playing cards, Nadine decides to steal the photos back, and she enlists the help of her soon-to-be-former husband Vernon (Jeff Bridges), who is already engaged to the winner of a local beauty pageant. In the midst of the robbery, intruders shoot and kill Escobar in the next room; Nadine and Vernon grab an envelope marked "Nadine" and make tracks. But the envelope doesn't contain any photos; instead, there are plans for a road to be built in town that reveal dirty dealings by local politicians, and now Nadine and Vernon are on the run from both Escobar's killers and land baron Buford Pope (Rip Torn).     Jeff Bridges and Kim Basenger with real heavy accents ya'll, get inta all kinda trouble. It looks very dated, but it's just about watchable, because of the great actors.

    This was one of the dumbest and one of the most boring films I have ever seen! It is pretty much a waste of time, film and money. I know I am young and dumb but what was a map of a new highway going to make Vernon money? Vernon was stupid, he was obsessed with that Bluebonnet bar... read more and he was so much in debt it was pretty pointless to waste his money on that bar, and if he was so dang poor why was he always drinking beer? Nadine was a stupid character because all she did was scream the whole time. Floyd was dumb I am not surprised he got killed.

    A small movie many probably haven't seen but thought this was pretty charming, and Bridges/Basinger had good chemistry.
