Even Christopher Lee (in an uncharacteristically weak performance as Dracula), Klaus Kinski (as the mad Renfield), and seven credited screenwriters cannot make this confused, distant film worthwhile. Cult filmmaker Bruno Mattei edited the Italian version, and scenes were later used in Calvin Floyd's In Search of Dracula. Among several different versions are prints running 100, 98, and 86 minutes. Franco appears as a servant to Professor Van Helsing (Herbert Lom), and though certainly literate, the film nevertheless fails as both horror and drama. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

I love seeing Lee playing Dracula, even if it's been done to death, literally! Still, this is a good more modern version of the film, not that it's the best, it could have been better, but it's entertaining anyway.

A gorgeous, gorgeous film with gorgeous, gorgeous people and plenty of unintentionally hilarious scenes.

This film has one of the best soundtracks in the history of cinema, mainly thanks to the mesmerising metallic guitar sound that echoes almost like an out-of-tune cembalo or ... read morekantele.

I've seen probably close to (if not) 10 of Franco's films and COUNT DRACULA is easily my favorite. However I would caution anyone who sees this as their introduction to Franco as I do not think that this film is a great representation of what seems to be his signature style. Perh... read moreaps this is why I enjoyed it so much. This entry into the famous vampire story of Dracula has much of the set pieces and atmosphere I would have expected to find in a Bava masterpiece. Franco (and crew) deliver an imaginative, creepy and appropriately ethereal atmosphere! Some surrealistic elements and stylistic spices are recognizably Franco (if you've seen his films) but more importantly . . . THIS IS EASILY AN ABOVE AVERAGE IF NOT GREAT VAMPIRE MOVIE!

Weak SFX hurt this film but Lee's performance is at times amazing and both the actresses are very good.

the very first vampire movie I ever saw as a kid...on film no less one night at camp. Scared me a lil... but I found myself rooting for dracula ever since and I always will. Dated now, but a classic to me! Vampires rule!

Franco's adaptation of the classic novel has the best cast ever aassembled for a Dracula film but it's not nearly as innovative as what Hammer did with their first Dracula film. Plus, the actual text of Stoker's book is really unsuited to Franco's style. Dracula as a story does... read moren't really lend itself to lesbianism, extensive use of the zoom lens or long stretches of idilic landscape shots that have nothing to do with the story (all of which are among Franco's strengths.) Still, it's a good movie with some great performances, so it's not a total loss and, I have to say, I do kind of like it despite all this.

The wasn't as good as the previous 2 movies but I still liked it. I wish they wouldn've picked someone besides Rutger Hauer to play Dracula.
