A notorious serial killer uses his dying breath to place a deadly curse on a small town in this shocker from legendary horror director Wes Craven (Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street). It's been 16 year... read more read more...s since the maniac who terrorized Riverton met his grim demise. Seven children were born on the night he died, and he vowed that he would return one day to claim them all. Like clockwork, exactly 16 years later, the children born that fateful night begin vanishing without a trace. Could the killer have somehow cheated death the night that everyone thought he was killed, or has he perhaps been reincarnated as one of seven teens he swore to kill? Only one person knows the answer to that burning question. Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thieriot) never knew how close he came to death the night his father went on that bloody rampage, and despite remaining completely unaware of the atrocities that mar his family bloodline, he's suffered terrifying nightmares from as far back as he can remember. Now, in order to save his friends, Bug will be forced to confront the evil that won't stop until it accomplishes the awful task it set out to complete on the night he was born. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Oh wow not many people really liked this? Maybe they expect more from a horror legend like Wes Craven. For a straight to DVD horror/slasher it was ok. It has an old school vibe and plot which was a throw back to the genre's hay day in the 80's. However the 2nd half of the film se... read moreemed to confuse it's self, trying to be smarter than it was, fairly obvious how some plot lines would turn out. It has a few jumps, which with a proper 5.1 system can be fully appreciated. One of the low budget horrors which used the surround sound to really good effect! The ending and final stages of the film are a let down after a promising opening. One for old school horror fans.

The fact that this hasn't yet been picked up by the "shitty horror canon" cult is completely beyond me. Inept in the most hilarious and incoherent of ways, My Soul to Take is nearly two hours of a once renowned horror master flying off the rails in grandiose fashion. Absolutely w... read moreorth catching, unless this sort of schadenfreude-fueled spectacle isn't really your scene.

Everything that you heard about this movie is true..it's not so good.

Wes Craven is a horror genius, but what the hell was he thinking when making this shit. The plot of this was too boring and stupid to explain, the story scrambled up and has so many things happening that we simply just don't care what happens. I mean, almost every scene had som... read moreething completely retarded, whether it was cheesy moments or terrible dialogue. Oh yeah, the dialogue, I almost forgot, this film has some of the worst dialogue in film history, maybe worse than Star Wars The Phantom Menace. In horror films I like dumb characters, but these characters were not dumb, they were stupid, annoying, and probably the worst cast I have ever witnessed in a horror film, if you've seen the film you know what im talking about. The movie relies completely with jump moments that were not scary, the whole movie is one big annoying piece of shit that will not scare anyone. Anyone who thought this was scary is going to have a lot of problems in life, what a terrible movie.

It could have been better. Average scares & blood in this movie.

is it just possible that Craven fumbled the ball this time and gave us the equivalent of a fairly amateur teen horror flick?

Cast: Max Thieriot, Denzel Whitaker, Raul Esparza, Shareeka Epps, Emily Meade, Frank Grillo, Zena Grey, Nick Lashaway, Jessica Hecht

    Director: Wes Craven

Summary: Some 15 years after the presumed death of a vicious serial killer, children whose birthdays match his supposed... read more "death day" start to disappear. But whether the killer -- or his tortured soul -- is responsible remains to be seen. One boy (Max Thieriot) knows for sure, but his own connection to the horrific crimes is far too terrible to imagine.

My Thoughts: "An OK little teen slasher. I am sure a younger audience will enjoy this much more then an older audience. No suspense and not at all scary, but definitely bloody enough. The story isn't bad, but there are seven characters that are kinda boring and really don't get much development which makes you care even less about them being killed off. The cast is full of young fresh face's. I think I've only seen one (bug) in a movie before (I think it was 'Jumper'). Not bad acting, but nothing that will be remembered, sadly much like this movie. I LOVE Wes Craven, he is a favorite of mine, but he has done much, much, much better work. Not really bad, but the furthest from great."

Wes, what the Hell happened? Utter crap like this is usually only made by true hacks and naive amateurs, not a veteran like you. Pretty much everything here is lame: poor acting, lazy writing, uninspired story, and careless direction. On top of that, it's all dull, lifeless, and ... read morenot very fun or entertaining.

I'm actually being a little generous here. I did like that there was a decent amount of bloodshed. That helped, as did the casting of two performers I kind of like. (Epps and Grey) Aside from that, this is just a giant fail all over. Here's to hoping redemption comes (in a massive way) with Scream 4.

There's some malarkey about each kid having inherited one of the maniac's personalities, though Craven never does much with that except to point the finger of suspicion at junior. Full Review

A thrill-free snooze that will certainly rank as one of the least -- if not the least -- effective entries in Craven's nearly 40-year canon of cinematic shockers. Full Review
