Agreeable comedy follows a mother as she attempts to find a new father for her two young sons after catching her husband with another woman. Actor George Hamilton's real life reminiscences on The Merv Griffin Show form the basis of this road movie about his childhood. Renée Zellw... read more

Logan Lerman's performance is the best reason to watch this film. He steals the movie. Logan happens to be a fast rising star in Hollywood with impressive performances in 3:10 to Yuma and Percy Jackson. He reminds me of a young Tobey Maguire. He should have gotten the Spider Man ... read more

I thought it was very cute and funny. The story was enjoyable, the acting was great. I enjoyed myself. I was expecting that Renee's character Ann would end up with her husband again even though I was really rooting for Nick Stahl's character Bud. I have to say I was actually surp... read more

A coming of age story at times hysterically funny and other times quite moving. Great performances from the cast, but its the script and direction that set this film apart. Also interesting to find who the story was based on. Thoroughly enjoyable.

November 13, 2011ThomasJayWilliamsA nice, breezy coming-of-age yarn. The story is that of an upper-class woman returning home one day to catch her bandleader husband sleeping around. Having none of it, she takes her two boys (one grounded and practical and the other a Project Runway Queen), cleans out their safet... read more

This was a pretty decent movie. It was rather drawn out and the mother's outlook on life was ludicrous. I did like the way things worked out in the end and the resolution to the conflicts within the family.

just ok this period piece set in 1953 has all star cast that tries to make the most out of a story that is uninteresting or characters i don't really care about.

This was a cute movie, but I fell asleep after about 45 minutes. I can't say I hated it, but I'm not going to replay it. I assume it turned out well. Good acting.

The best thing about the film is the cast, everyone does a fine job, especially Nick Stahl in a small but good role. The story is uneven, he has some slow spots. The period detail is decent but flawed. Well produced, good cinematography and costumes.

Part road trip, part coming-of-age story, the film ultimately reveals itself as a Hollywood memoir, but it saves any stardust for its last moments. Full Review
If you have any curiosity at all about how a fellow like George Hamilton became a fellow like George Hamilton, My One and Only answers the question by looking, fondly, at his primary caregiver. Full Review
A grand, colorful coming-of-age story with a candy box color palette and a standout performance by Renée Zellweger. It's a great story and a great crowd-pleaser. Full Review
My One and Only is like a tale told by a first-rate raconteur, its twists and turns all the more intriguing because it's all true -- more or less. Full Review
It's refreshing, and let's hope it's [Zellweger's] passport out of rom-com purgatory and into mature roles. Sadly, it is a better career move than it is a movie. Full Review
Basing psychological speculation on a biopic is notoriously risky. All I can say is that after seeing My One and Only, Hamilton's persona somehow clicked into place for me. Full Review
Renée Zellweger plays to her strengths as an unsinkable Southern belle in the safe and breezy 1950s period piece My One and Only. Full Review
The movie is filled with fun '50s Americana, and Lerman, it turns out, really does have the magnetism and star quality to anchor a movie, in a way the real George Hamilton might envy. Full Review
Flouncing across the country like Miss Piggy, Renée Zellweger makes My One and Only a fabulous bore. Full Review
