Ken Loach is one of the best directors in the world and Peter Mullan is one of the best actors in the world. This was always going to be great. An overlooked classic.

Peter Mullan is stunning as Joe, an unemployed alcoholic trying to stay sober and useful. To every Braveheart lover, this is the real Scotland: poverty, drugs, organized crime and despair. A must-see.
