Vada feels left out and decides to write about her mother -- whom she knows nothing about -- for a school project. Vada wants to travel to Los Angeles during spring break to find out more about her mother by interviewing old friends and acquaintances. To much sentimental, to much bad...

Not quite as good as the first, but I actually like it a lot more. I think the plot goes a lot better and the characters aren't as cheesy. Sure, it doesn't have Macaulay Culkin, but Austin O'Brien (my favorite kid star of the mid-nineties) fills in nicely and is a lot less pathet... read moreic and more believable.

A sequel nobody wanted to a movie few people remember.

Loved the original, but watching this one once was overbearing enough. Not HALF as good as the original....actually, not even 10% as good....

This sequel of the hypochondriac daughter of a widowed mortician in her teen is fine where she goes to research the life of the mother she never knew.

Mediocre follow-up to the original that doesn't have the same coming of age feel

    An alright sequel.
  • January 23, 2009
This sequel just tries to make up for the big tear jerker surprise that was the first My Girl film. It takes itself a lot less seriously. But the first is still a better movie despite being pretty damn sad.
  • January 16, 2012
My Girl did not need a sequel. They made one anyway. This lacks a lot of the charm, most of the depth, and just about all the heart that the first one had. Anna Chlumsky's know-it-all smart kid performance in the first film was endearing, this time shes older, and it just come... read mores of as smug. The whole film is essentially a misfire.

This is kinda cute seeing what happens to Vada when she finds out the truth about her mom's past, along the way she makes new friends and ends up witha new boyfriend

It's a sequel that's worth a look, but not a purchase.

Sappy and derivative. A sequel that never should have been made.
