Newly divorced Emma Moriarty (Sally Field) moves herself and her young son to a small Arizona town, hoping to establish a horse farm. Town pharmacist Murphy Jones (James Garner), the town's most eligi... read more read more...ble bachelor, develops a platonic friendship with Emma, but he decides to keep his distance when her ex-husband Bobby Jack (Brian Kerwin), who claims he's changed his irresponsible ways, moves back in with her. At a party at Emma's ranch, Murphy and Bobby Jack get into a verbal row, but nothing is settled until Wanda (Anna Levine) shows up with two babies in tow, claiming that Bobby Jack is the father. Once rid of her ex, Emma commisserates with her friend Murphy at his drug store--and is quite surprised to discover that she's fallen in love with the older man, and he with her. Murphy's Romance is a very gentle romantic comedy; even Murphy's cast-away lady friend (Georgann Johnson) behaves like a civilized human being instead of a woman scorned. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Very good movie :) A nice movie to watch on a rainy day when there's nothing else to do. Gardner & Field were great in this movie :)

Year in and year out, James Garner delivers. He and Field have great chemistry in this May-December romantic comedy.

Delightfully old-fashioned and pleasing romantic comedy.

I think the best thing about this movie was Corey Haim.He seemed to have so much potential.I remember him being on the cover of all the teen magazines when I was a little kid.Maybe if some director took another chance on him, He could've had a break out role & things would've bee... read moren different today.Who knows? 2 & a 1/2 stars just for Corey

I didn't expect to like this movie as much as I did. It was serious and funny all at the same time. The cast was great - yes, even the young Corey Haim. James Garner continually surprises me. His best-actor nomination was well-deserved.

I rarely enjoy "romantic" movies, but this one is good and the best of its type. I felt like I knew the characters all my life and had grown up with them.

Love this movie...i was a big Corey Haim fan back in the day...lost boys...licensed to Drive the whole Corey time....It's about a single mom who moves her and her son to a new small town. No major action it's just about there life adjusting to this new town.

I have seen this movie many times over and love to watch it on a Sunday afternoon. It's a movie that always makes me feel good.

There wasn't one thing I didn't love about this movie. James Garner is an excellent actor who can play any part to perfection and Sally Field is a seasoned veteran who played her part like it was made for her as she does in all her films. This movie is sweet, funny and inspiring ... read moreall at the same time. Its one of my all time favorites!

A quirky May-December romancer that's subtle and low key in its sweetness. Garner and Field make for an unlikely romantic tandem
