In this adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel, James Bond (Roger Moore) must thwart Sir Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale), who plans to wipe out all of humankind and replace it with a super race that he ha... read more read more...s cultivated in a massive space station. The girl in the case is American secret agent Holly Goodhead, intelligently played by Lois Chiles. "Jaws," the steel-mouthed henchman played by Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), makes a return appearance in Moonraker, turning good guy (complete with a girlfriend of his own) in the process. Bernard Lee makes his last appearance as "M" in this most costly of James Bond's 1970s escapades. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

More Bone from Moore. this was one of my favorites.

As far as Bonds go, I think Roger Moore is the most satirical. He seems to be really enjoying himself, in Moonraker moreso than ever. This one tends to get a bit silly and have some fun with the story, and I frankly welcome this. It's nice to finally get to laugh out loud at some... read more of the absurdities of the 007 series. There are some moments of drag in the story, but when it finally gets to good the stuff, it's not disappointing. I'm not saying that all of Bond films should be like this one. I'm just saying it's good to see shaken up for a change and to do something different.

The unique sci-fi twist on the classic James Bond spy plot reduces the actual idea of Bond being a spy, but it definitely heightens the thrills of the film. A great idea, but I'm glad it's only a one-time idea, though it should be at least remade, because, believe it or not, thi... read mores film was made before space shuttles were invented, so the concepts of what is possible and what contrarily is impossible in outer space are totally outdated in MOONRAKER.

I'm not sure why, but I did enjoy Moonraker. Understandably, many fans are divided with this film because of the fact it's one of the most over the top Bond films ever made. The film is very corny and cheesy at times, especially the scene where Jaws falls in love, I love the fil... read morem, but I can't help myself from cringing every time that scene plays. Also if your epileptic and the fancy in space laser light show will fuck you up. You may want to avoid this film. For all it's flaws, this is still a very good Bond, and if you don't take it seriously, you'll probably enjoy it. Moonraker is a James Bond Guilty Pleasure.

One of the more terrible James Bond films. Don't really remember much of it, just the fact that it sucked and was boring.

I met Richard Kiel in 2006 and he is a nice man with very big hands!

this movie is ridiculous. absolutely and completely. so utterly camp and stupid that it shouldn't wear the badge of Bond. thank God for Daniel Craig

Probably the cheesiest Bond flick made, the whole space plot and finale in space is so daft its hilarious frankly LOL but I gotta admit there's just something about it thats so damn cool. I loved it as a kid and its still a good Bond today but I just dunno why. The battles are ju... read morest cool even though cheesey, the girls are sexy and Jaws is the best villain ever haha awesome henchman.

It looks dated now but still works nicely, Roger is in one of his best eyebrow raising performances and the humour is thick n fast as he reels off his nifty one liners at the baddies expense.
Plus the final sex scene in zero G is soooo cool ;)

After watching this again recently I had to drop the rating on this by a star and a half. We all know the story: Moonraker is James Bond in space.

    Yeah.

The funny thing about Moonraker is that the first hour and a half really isn't that bad considering that it's a movie about ... read moreJames Bond in space. Is has all the classic Bond quips and Roger Moore's incredible pheremones that would have Barbara Bush humping him in 15 seconds. But there are two things that kill Moonraker.

The first one is Hugo Drax. Yes, this is the villain. The most boring villain ever created. That is an understament because I can't imagine anyone coming up with such a dull character in my life. All he wants to do is sit around and eat cucumber sandwiches, leaving the dirty work to a crappy Oddjob impersonator. He's horrible and whenever he's on screen the film comes to a screeching halt.

The other problem is that it's James Bond in space. Not only is it James Bond in space, Jaws is there too. With his girlfriend.

    The hell?

Moonraker features the corniest space battle with some of the crappiest blasters ever. Greedo could have gone taken a dump, ordered a McRib, walked back and shot first against these guys. Meanwhile is the big climax is Roger Moore playing Missle Command. Of course Desmond Llewellyn gets off probably the best line in the film:

    "I believe he's attempting re-entry."

The song, the fight for the parachute, and that line. That's about it.

Miss Moneypenny: Why are you so late, James?
James Bond: I fell out of an airplane without a parachute. Who's in there?
Miss Moneypenny: Q and the Minister of Defense.
James Bond: You don't belive me do you?
    Miss Moneypenny: No.

With the success of Star Wars, Bond goes to space... read more. Somehow this works, maybe because sci-fi is cool. Maybe because it has Jaws again. The story is good enough, and Bond gets a lot of globe trotting in, US, Venice, Rio and of course, space.

Hugo Drax: Mr. Bond, you persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you.

Roger Moore returns as Bond, this time investigating a stolen space shuttle case. This leads to an industrialist who's plan eventually is revealed to be a plan of destroying the world after stalking a space station with people, only to return and repopulate it. Absurd- yes.

Still, this is very much a Bond movie, and a fun one. Moore still approaches the role with all kinds of laid back charm. The Bond girl's name is Holly Goodhead. Jaws is still a fun character. The opening sequence is cool. Gadgets and laser battles are a plus. This is a fun movie.

    Dr. Holly Goodhead: James?
James Bond: I think it may be time to go home.
Dr. Holly Goodhead: Take me 'round the world one more time.
    James Bond: Why not?
