The start of this film is really shaky, its unfunny, looks dull and the plot zips along too fast, blink and you miss the whole film concept.

Luckily it morphs into another brilliant Dreamworks animated flick, at first the characters don't really appeal and they kinda look a bit ... read morelame but as the film progresses you really dig them and the idea behind their looks. They have all been crafted from the classic black n white horror genre ranks and at a first glance I didn't like them but as the film moves forward you do notice how cool they are.

'B.O.B' is obviously a take on the Blob creature probably from the Steve McQueen flick, 'Link' is a kind of 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' and probably the best of the monsters with his dialog and good looking cgi on his scales (am I the only one who thinks Michael Keaton with his wild n wacky 'Beetlejuice' voice would have been perfect for this character?).
'Dr Cockroach' was a twist on ' The Fly' monster and for me the weakest monster in the gang, 'Gallaxhar' is the alien enemy and a nice combination of the classic 50's/60's UFO invasion flicks (think 'Mars Attacks' too) and finally 'Insectosaurus' is taken from the Jap monster mash films and 'Godzilla'.

The film isn't THAT funny at the start or for the first 30min really, it comes alive after the gang fights the giant robot to be honest, before then its a little weak. The film does offer allot of little funny moments from then on eg. 'B.O.B' waving his jello at 'Derek' at the end and when he tries to chat the jello up earlier on LOL!

Rainn Wilson makes the alien enemy much better than I thought at first with some cracking little remarks here and there.....'Quadrant 4? lame', and you gotta laugh at the US president and the 'Dr Strangelove' type boardroom scenes hehe.

Its a film of two halves really, the beginning is weak but the latter half is great fun, as said it all perks up once they fight the giant robot in SF, it whips along with no time for rest and you really enjoy it. Kudos to Dreamworks for the look of the film which is really really nice, its amazing what they can do these days, this film still keeps me in the Dreamworks camp overall. Pixar still hold the ultimate hand with 'Toy Story' but this was really good, Dreamworks are closing the gap slowly.

Absolutely Awesome Movie. I can only recommend it.

I dont know many have some troubles with this Movie, but I think it was friggin Funny specially the Bit when the "President of United States" playing that Beverly Hill Sound. Some scenes were spoofed from great Alien Classics, ... read morewhat was actually much funnier, there is what I dont understand why many Folks have troubles with it. It was another kind of "Alien" Animation.

Enjoyable, though not very inventive computer animated adventure for all ages. Adults should have the most fun with the many movie references from the Sci-ci genre, kids will enjoy the lovable characters. While the movie is entertaining and fun at all times, it's not exactly pack... read moreed with gags. The action sequences are great, though. The Golden Gate Bridge didn't see that much havoc since the X-Men dropped by. As 3D film it doesn't make use of the whole range of opportunities of that feature but is still worth a visit. I may have expected a little more, but especially kids should have a lot of fun with this.

Susan is supposed to get married to Derek but gets hit by a meteor at the church. She becomes enormous and strong. The government take her to area 52 where she meets other monsters. The monsters are set free to save San Francisco from alien invasion, hence the name monsters v ali... read moreens. Good original animation. Cute characters. My favourite scenes are of the president when he nearly launches missiles when he just wanted a coffee. Also the scene where he plays the keyboard to the communicate with the aliens. My fave character is Bob, voiced by Seth Rogan.

A fun enough animation comedy from Pixar. It's not quite up there with some of their greats, but still entertaining for younger kids.

This one just did not register with me! Entertaining, but just not much more for me.

The films storyline doesn't go deep but it is full of action and it's visually stunning. The voice acting is ok but to be honest I never found the film hilarious but it had enough moments to entertain me.

The characters are likable and the dialog is sometimes funny, but this film is severely lacking especially in original content.

Hilarious and smart, but couldve had a better and more interesting story. The characters were well thought out and cool. The plot was kind of worthless and disappointing. The animation was good, but ive seen better. The comedy was very funny, I laughed a lot.

A promising concept which doesn't deliver as fully as hoped. Full review later.
