Really, really, really liked this film. Renée did an awesome job and it was a great story of Potters life.

Apart from the horrible poster and the fact it was marketed a little too much for an American audience, Miss Potter is a fantastic film! I'm not a fan of Renée Zellweger and she certainly wouldn't have been my first choice but she does a great job. I only watched this film becaus... read more

Caught on tv, I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline which I would otherwise have avoided. It slightly pains me to say it, but I thought Renee Zellwegger was pretty good in this role (I tend to rant a little at her Bridget Jones role).
An interesting tale of a widely kno... read more -

This is the exact same film in every way to Finding Neverland. However here the film is less interesting as there is simply no conflict. Everything goes so well it becomes dull and you begin to question "Why make a film of this?" Publishers scheme against Beatrix and their older ... read more

While occasionally painting in broad strokes (which is the failing of most biopics), this film keeps to its tenor throughout, has some very nice cinemetography and an effective, yet subtle use of CGI (the animals becomming animated off the page, as it were).
I found Renee to be... read more -

Miss Potter is such a good film about Beatrix Potter and her two loves of life; writing and one man played by Ewan McGregor. Renee Zellweger always does such a grand job of transforming to her characters and does not disappoint!
Critic Reviews
One of those films that commits few egregious errors, but scales few real heights. There is nothing either terribly wrong or keenly right about it. It's tidy, I suppose.
The film offers scant insight into the forces that inspired Potter's phenomenally successful career.
If the source material is soft, the film then takes another punch with the casting of Renée Zellweger in the title role. She overflows with tics and twitches that make the author seem vaguely deranged. Full Review
With Miss Potter, Renee Zellweger has won back that precious thing that stardom rips away and the tabloids won't let you reclaim: her charm. Full Review
A grave disappointment.
The thinness shows -- there isn't much of a story. Beatrix starts out as a feisty, idiosyncratic, talented gal and, save for a momentary lapse after a brush with tragedy, remains so right to the end o... Full Review
Miss Potter gives us only the bedtime version of the Beatrix Potter story, perhaps appropriately so given the subject matter and target audience, which will likely be captivated by the film's undemand... Full Review
Miss Potter, right to the end, is the definition of a nice movie, and that makes it a genuine oddball in a universe of increasingly distressed and uncivilized pop culture. Full Review
I found it slight but enchanting, which is not the same thing as slightly enchanting. Full Review
