Marko Zaror, María Elena Swett, Ariel Mateluna, Mauricio Pesutic, Iván Jara

The principal players behind the Chilean martial arts hit Kiltro reunite for this action-packed tale of a young orphan who grows up to be a vigilante crime fighter. Maco (Marko Zaror) was just a young... read more read more... boy when his family became the victims of a violent home invasion that resulted in the death of his parents and rendered his younger brother nearly catatonic. Years later, Maco pays regular visits to his brother in a nearby mental institution, and pays his bills by working as a bouncer in a seedy strip club. Every minute of Maco's spare time is dedicated to perfecting his skills as a martial artist so that he can never be victimized again. One night, after stumbling across a home invasion in progress, Maco instinctively leaps into action - saving a woman from being raped and triggering a fateful series of events. As fate would have it, the would-be rape victim was actually a prominent television reporter, and decides to pay tribute to her savior during a live television broadcast. Upon seeing the report, Maco's younger brother begins to experience visions of superheroes that instill him with a newfound sense of hope and mysteriously improve his condition. Recognizing that the only way to save his brother may be to transform himself into the hero that the media has made him out to be, Maco dons a homemade mask and begins fighting crime on the streets. Meanwhile, a well-meaning buffoon sets out to become Maco's official sidekick, and the reporter gradually sheds her earnest façade in a series of sensationalistic news reports aimed solely at grabbing ratings. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

He had no superpowers, just his fists and guts.

Mirageman is Ernesto Díaz Espinoza's sophomore film, in which he writes and directs. Considering the fact that his debut film, Kiltro, and this one star Marko Zaror, it is only fitting that they are about equal.

This film plays out like a superhero film. Not the

... read more typical CG Hollywood films like The Incredible Hulk or Ironman. This is like a normal guy putting on a cheap costume and fighting crime by kicking butt. When I say kicking butt, I mean kicking butt martial arts style. He doesn't use guns. There really isn't much to the story and it is a little slow at times, but it is quite funny. You actually get to see the lead character of Maco start from scratch by creating a costume as well as make a name for himself.

Unlike Kiltro, where the action is all at the end, the action is spread out through the entire 90 minute picture. If you know who Marko Zaror is, then you don't need to ask if the martial arts is good. It is. The only problem, once again, is that the film leaves you wanting more. I don't know if they plan it that way, so you go see his next movie, but if they do, it is pretty clever.

Marko has proven to me that he has the ability to act. He falls a little flat in here and it is the story and his character that can take the blame for it. María Elena Swett is the second major character and she is dazzling. Seriously, you can't stop looking at her when she is on the screen.

Mirageman will seem like a low budget movie, but that doesn't mean it sucks. This is an entertaining watch if you like martial arts action.

More than any comic book movie, "Mirageman" truly gets at the heart of superhero mythology. Certainly not flawless (the last third is rather weak, considering what went on before, and chooses to go dark for some reason) but just as certainly pure fucking awesomeness.

I freakin love this movie! Marko Zaror is awesome as a modern day masked crusader! Cool music, some awesome stunts, and enough humor to keep it going! Highly recommended!

This is a Chilean superheroe movie starring the guy who stunt-doubled The Rock in The Rundown. Now, having just read, you would expect this to be a camp-gasm, right? Well, you'd only be half right. Though constructed with campy elements that show from time to time, this is a very... read more earnest film that only wants to entertain by mixing martial arts with humor pretty successfully. Marko Zaror looks more cute than menacing as the titular hero, Mirageman; he's like a puppy who wants to kick ass, but everything is so fun, humorous and satisfying that you're happy to go along for the ride.
I just got it! Now I know what this movie remembers me of: It's like a Brock Landers film, but without the porn.

Total, unadulterated awesomeness. Sure I really liked Kiltro, but this is leaps and bounds ahead of it. Blending comedy, melodrama, the vigilante film, the superhero film and martial arts, the filmmakers/star have created a masterpiece. Apparently, a lot of the hits are real i... read moren the fights, and that definitley adds to the excitement, but it's the shifting moods and surprising decisions in storytelling that elevate this to a five star film. A must see.

I am stunned that this got numerous good reviews on various sites. The acting is dreadful, the score is laughably bad, the cinematography is very amateur and the story is just plain stupid. It's like a bad home movie.

A funny superhero movie, unlike Superhero Movie. Sometimes the dramatic scenes are awkward amidst the comedic gags and awful costume, but in all, an entertaining low-budget film, unlike Superhero Movie.
