Love Michael Jackson, I believe he's the greatest musician for along long time. His music is universal and his dance skills and imagination are stunning. Almost all his music videos from the 80's are classics and this film/music video is a legendary collection of the best with a ... read moredodgy story line lol Smooth Criminal is the best, the look and moves are breath taking. Also Jacksons ideas are blueprints for alot of future films, there are some great concepts here and nice touches. Jacksons music and moves still kicks all modern day musicians arses. Untouchable.

"I ask for a BAD guy and he gives me Michael Jackson? I can't take it anymore!"

I can't really say that this is a movie. It's more of a compilation of some Michael Jackson songs put together into movie modes. 'Moonwalker' starts with pictures and video footage of MJ when he was ... read morea kid and a young artist. All of a sudden he's chased by cartoony people, him wearing a rabbit suit and so on...

The only really interesting segment of 'Moonwalker' is the Smooth Criminal part. In that episode, MJ really shoves us, the viewers, that he was an astonishing dancer. It's also beautifully shot and come to think of it, one of the best music videos I've seen.

Another nice segment is the one where MJ gets all Optimus Prime and turns into a robot of some sort. 'Moonwalker' is over 20 years old and I believe that the transformation was at that time pretty amazing.

But in overall, 'Moonwalker' doesn't come well together as a feature film. MJ can't act. Every time he opened his mouth in this movie, compilation (or whatever), it proved only one thing to us. MJ is an unbeliavable singer but as an movie actor... Like in one of his songs... He's BAD. For fans only.

Love this video. Hopefully it will get a DVD release here in the states soon.

Weird stuff. A collection of Michael Jackson short films - not yet on DVD in North America.

It starts with a live stage performance of "Man in the Mirror" - with shots of audience members freaking and fainting; some needed to be carried away by paramedics.

There's a cool journe... read morey through Michael's career with music and animation.

Next we are presented with "Badder" - a remake of the "Bad" video with kids! This was impressive how close the child performers were to the originals. Weird how some kids had beards and stubble.

This is followed by Michael being chased by tourists through a movie backlot. There's a nice mix of claymation and actors wearing masks. It's very cartoonish and as fun as the studio chase in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure".

Michael hides out in the wardrobe department and dons a huge rabbit mask for the getaway on a motorbike, leading into the "Speed Demon" song. The high-velocity chase is awesome, but the song itself wasn't too good. There's a run-in with a traffic cop at the end of the road.

After that is the weird "Leave Me Alone" music video. It has a good song and animation. Some of the images were trippy and questionable: like the dogs in suits, lizards, Bubbles the chimp, Michael dancing with the Elephant Man's skeleton and a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor.

The main feature is "Moonwalker" - which has Michael and his kid friends in happy world of sunshine and playing ball - but they discover a plot by the shrieking and evil Mr. Big (Joe Pesci), his spiders and guards distribute drugs to all the kids of the world. The direction and effects are cool. The street kids are wholesome and impeccably clean, they. I felt my emotions being tested with the kids crying and then happy at the end. Michael and his friends hide out in an abandoned 30's night club and awaken the ghosts of the past for the entire "Smooth Criminal" music video - one of my favourite songs of his. There's a lot of gun-violence and chasing, with cool things like Michael turning into an armored car and giant robot - it's incredible! The film feels a bit drawn-out, but overall it's impressive.

Michael overdoes it at the end by inviting his kid-actor pals to witness a grinding and sweaty stage performance of "Come Together".

This movie is a must-see for any Michael Jackson fan. It didn't really flow from the beginning musical section to the main story but I love the way he linked Bad and Speed Demon. The main story was good but confusing at times as I wasn't sure if the children really did know Micha... read moreel or not. The effects were really good and Michael gave an amazing performance on all levels. He's giving a great message against drugs and I loved his performance of Come Together. R.I.P Michael! <3

I hadn't watched this in years since it was first released, but it is just as capavitating. Michael sings and dances and makes movie magic. He fights a drug lord, plays football and tranforms into a robot. It will blow you away. Michael is legendary and his music will live on for... read moreever.

    This movie is great.

Now, I do tend to like my films heavy on the story and dialogue, but now and then, something like Moonwalker comes along, and it's watchable, despite numerous flaws.

This film is no more than a highly entertaining Michael Jackson advertisement. Beginning wi... read moreth sickly video set to 'Man in the Mirror' a montage listing his achievements, and bits and bobs from his career, it goes through all the highs of his life, then crashes down into a really, really entertaining segment which acts as a funny music video for 'Bad' and 'Speed Demon', following the adventures of MJ as he runs from manic stop-motion fans, and finally dancing against a rabbit costume. The stop motion isn't that bad as some would have you believe. It's passable.

Then we see the great video for 'Leave me alone', and straight into the main feature.

Yes, the plot is laughable. Very laughable. We see Michael walk out of a building, then get shot at by thousands of troops. Then we hit flashback, showing MJ and three children stumbling upon an underground lair. 'Mr Big' (Joe Pesci) is the nefarious villain who has a plan to get every child in the world hooked on 'drugs' (no specifics are mentioned) at an early age. MJ and the little girl he is with get caught, then chased... yada yada yada. The plot isn't really the important part. We get two very cool sequences where MJ turns into a car, then a robot-spaceship thing, and of course, the amazing 'Smooth Criminal' sequence.

It's a so-so film, but it is fantastic for anyone who likes MJ. It has most of his greatest hits, and some cool little bits, and some quite good special effects (the Robot/Spaceship sequence in particular) Worth it, especially seen as though you can pick it up for about a quid on ebay. It'll keep the kids quiet for a couple of hours, as well as most 20 somethings who were kids when it was first released.

MJ fights drug lord Joe Pesci, plays soccer with some kids in a red sweater, turns into a transformer in the end, plays an actually very cool smooth criminal video and yes, there's a fucking rainbow in the cover.

    erm....NO
  • January 26, 2007
Well...It's MJ playing soccer with kids in a sweater, and fighting drugs. But then he ends up killing lots of people, turns into a transformer starship and does the best video of smooth criminal ever.
