    A half decent made for TV film starring Gary Busey as a sheriff of a small town with an escaped Tiger on the loose. It has some pretty gory make up scenes, surprised it's a PG?! Very much a Jaws on land and not too be taken seriously.

    Don't let that monstrous demon on the cover fool you. This tiger is as soft as they come. It looks about as ferocious as a Furby as it bounds towards the camera looking for hugs. It reaches highs of wonderful hilarity when we hear the tiger roar, but see him just being playful an... read mored content. Luckily, to counterbalance this, we have the true wild beast, Gary Busey. Busey plays it straight, which is to his credit. It has all the wonderful characters, and more. The greedy mayor, concerned about tourism, the hunter with a score to settle etc. These characters are actually played quite well, and the mayor even has a well played emotional scene. It's still got clunky dialogue, confused looking supporting actors, and impossible action sequences (this tiger is half ninja). It's a lot of fun and should be treated for the gem it is.

    This has to be near the top of the pile when it comes to competent Sci-Fi original movies, but don't let that fool you. Saying that really doesn't mean much.

    The plot is 100% pure cliche. It has all the obligatory characters: The grizzled but out of his league cop (Busey), the... read more profit hungry mayor (Hughes), the wildlife specialist and expert hunter out for revenge (Clark) and the sweet innocent child who has a special connection with the beast (Wood).

    Speaking of the beast, I have to give props to Sci-Fi for using an actual cat, and not its patented PlayStation 2 CGI. The tiger is beautiful and well behaved. Never once however does it come across as a vicious killer.

    My biggest complaint is that just not enough happens. There are pitifully few amounts of attack or action scenes. Although again, I have to give Sci-Fi some additional props for showing a little restraint for once. The acting is very surprisingly solid. Busey shows that he can still hold it together long enough to deliver a fairly solid performance.

    The script, score, direction etc are all average to below, but not terrible. All in all, this is one of the best constructed and executed Sci-Fi originals of all time, but still comes out as being pretty mediocre overall.

    Gary Busey as a sheriff that's hunting down a maneating tiger... How bad could it be? The tiger is also cuter than it appears on the cover art.

    The movies was good, but not showing more of the tiger attacking hurt the movie, since it could have been more bloody!!!
