Spoiled-rotten teenager Jessie (Ally Sheedy) can't stand the notion that the whole world doesn't jump to the crack of her whip. Enter fairy godmother Stella (Beverly D'Angelo), who grants the wish. With no name, no friends, and no money, Jessie has no choice but to look for work. She is hired as a maid by a filthy rich Malibu couple (Valerie Perrine and Dick Shawn), whose selfish excesses make Jessie look like Pollyanna. Worse still, Jessie is compelled by circumstance to meet up with her father, who doesn't even recognize her.     I really liked this movie, Sheedy plays a rich girl who's life is turned around and she must be the maid instead. This movie is funny and I really liked it.

    This modern retelling of the Cinderella fable isn't much of a star vehicle for Ally Sheedy, who's constantly upstaged by the supporting players.

    Only PG... really?! The rating system must have been waaayyy different than it is now. With a scene containing brief nudity from behind, excessive drinking, and at least one instance of name calling - using a derogatory term for the buttocks... I would have definitely expected ... read morethis to be PG-13. ~ And all that was just in the first 7 mins of the movies...

    Extremely slow in the beginning. Cinematography, acting, wardrobe, effects. etc. all typical in style of a movie in the 80's.

    Language continued with the overuse of GD... as well as Hell, God, the f-bomb... and repeated use of the derogatory term for poop... I only continued watching out of pure curiosity... hoping it would get better... and it didn't!!! Stopped after about 35mins in... It wasn't worth my time or interest to continue on...

    Ally Sheedy tried to capitalize on her post-Breakfast Club/Short Circuit fame and got this boring mess instead that pretty much derailed her career.

    This is a reverse Cinderella movie. A rich brat is visited by her fairy god mother and is suddenly a maid. Lots of comedy, but also a great movie of lessons learned by not just her, but those she is around.
