Gang Dong-weon, Yeon-hee Lee, Gong Hyo-Jin

Lee Myung-se, director and writer of 1999's Nowhere to Hide and 2005's The Duelist, returns to the helm for this supernatural melodrama concerning a tormented writer haunted by strange visions. Late at night, when the darkness consumes his room, Min-woo begins to see what old photographs materializing out of thin air right before his eyes. Though the images are strangely familiar, he can't seem to place them or recognize the people who linger in the ghostly frames. As each night grows longer, every sunrise brings another day of alienation and confusion. Later, as the smitten Mimi (Lee Yeon-hee) intones the first notes of "Mist" for Min-woo, faded recollections of his first love begin flickering somewhere deep within, prompting the author to recall his more carefree early years. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I expected something completely different going in and it was a little tough to follow in the beginning. Once it kicked in tho, it was an enjoyable story. Not too sure the highly stylized look was necessary, but I guess it worked out okay.

At a Q & A after a screening of this movie the only question the director really answered for me was that he was making a movie completely opened to the viewer's interpretation. Which would be fine except... read more that it was an overly confused movie and had no objective foundation. It may as well have been a blank screen for 2 hours, and then they ask you to imagine a movie, and take credit for it. I think he just had a few ideas for what might look cool on a big screen, didn't bother to write a plot, and tried saving his own ass by saying "it's opened to interpretation." ...artists...
