As she rewrites her piece, she reminisces on her past flames, particularly on her most serious relationship -- with Adam (Favreau), a fast-talking, very neurotic painter. The film traces their romance from their initial heady meeting, to moving in together, to an unexpected pregnancy, and the inevitable breakup because Adam felt trapped. Devastated by Adam's sudden defection, Kate goes on a dating spree and manages to drive him crazy by going out with handsome yet shallow video star Joey Santino (Josh Hopkins). Meanwhile, Adam grows increasingly obsessed with Kate's private life. This film was screened at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

Yeah, I'll admit it, I liked this. At first glance it looks like another chick flick, but John Favreau totally turned it into a great comedy. It was totally worth seeing the movie just for his comedic timing. Oh, and this guy in it does just about the most hilariously bad Robert ... read moreDeNiro impressions i've ever seen.

Surprisingly well made, and a double surprising good cast of the two leads, instead of the usual flat boring actors this movies usually have (Richard Gere, Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, etc etc) Jon Favreau makes up for a very convicing average joe type of character, and Famke Jans... read moresen can actually act, she just happens to pick shitty roles in shitty movies. I guess those pay more than movies like this one.

Also, this gives some hope to any average guy out there that maybe, just maybe, getting a piece of ass like Famke Janssen is not imposible....Nah, it is impossible, better stop dreaming.

"Love is Ecstasy and agony, freedom and imprisonment, belonging and loneliness. It's what keeps us together when life tears us apart. Kate (Famke Janssen)is a jaded young woman who has trouble meeting and dating guys. Throughout the movie, you get to meet several of her loser boyfriends and are subjected to Kate's cynical negative outlook on love and relationships. She says, early in the film, that she's better at giving oral sex than at understanding a loving relationship; if this is the extent of her knowledge of men, no wonder she has problems lol!

Favreau plays artist Adam Levy who meets Kate at one of his art exhibits. Soon thereafter, they begin dating and enjoy frequent sex. At first, their relationship is nothing but great and passionate. But as time passes the passion naturally fades and, eventually, Adam decides to call it quits with Kate. Overall, the movie is filled with witty dialogue, humor and honesty and takes you on a bumpy up close ride at love, heartache and the wonderful and sometimes painful art of making/breaking up.

This is an absolutely adorable, take-your-wife/date -to-it type of movie...it'll have her filled with warm fuzzies by the end. ;)

Love & Sex hasn't a strong, distinctive style, but what sets it a cut above many similar films is that for all its surface humor it has substance and emotional depth. Full Review

It's slick, polished to perfection, derivative and stripped of any of the real quirks or idiosyncrasies that make a romantic comedy fly.

This jovial and knowing aperitif of a movie is a charming example of what has come to be known as the date movie.

Marred by some soppy sections, casting that undermines the story's believability and a kind of self-consciousness that makes it hard to really care about the characters.
