I've never been a fan of Superman, but this enlightening documentary really allows you to respect what is, in my opinion, an out dated character. This film details the highs and lows of Superman in popular culture, and avoids being just an advertisement for his latest incarnation... read more. There are interesting tidbits, such as many of the distinctive characters/traits coming from the early radio shows. We see Superman's effects on celebrities, writers, producers, a world at war, and much more. At times it places its feet where they're not wanted. Did we really need talk on September 11th? Probably more of a nice introduction to the character, or good for those looking to expand their knowledge. But most fans will be familiar with what's going on.

Interesting but it's not something you'll watch more than 2 or 3 times throughout your lifetime.

A very intriguing documentary that lays itself as being a fan based affair only, or for people interested learn the history of the hero (because it's two hours spanning the hero from 1938 to 2006). Not a lot to say really, this isn't even really considered a complete documentary ... read moreas it was never intended for theatrical release. Nevertheless though, this is a film that recounts itself through a wide array of interviews and documented materials and gives a profound look at the caped hero in both comic and film form, and the lives of the people behind the blue tights. Thoroughly recommended for Superman fanatics, otherwise this will be a bore.

An amazing look into the entire history of the worlds first, and still greatest, superhero. From his early days in print, to Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, nothing is missed. There are many surprising facts that most Superman fans may not realize, including that he was first co... read morencieved as a villain. Narrated by Kevin Spacey, extreme detail is observed in every decade of Supermans existence, and how he has been viewed throught all those years. Containing interviews and insights from comic book creators, film directors, television and screen actors, the impact that Superman has had on our culture is shown in extreme detail, and is never boring. A must see for every Superman fan.

This documentary on the history of Superman from his earliest origins in the comics throughout his many different incarnations in radio, serials, TV, animation, and films. A very informative and thorough documentary chronicling the history of Superman in all his forms, from his comic book debut in 1938, all the way up to the making of 2006's "Superman Returns". Highly entertaining and informative. If you're a Superman fan, you'll enjoy it.

A mixed bag, with a tremendously engaging first half and a clunky, repetitive, salesman-esque second half... but it's got enough of the goods where it counts. Full Review
