At Samantha's sister Allison's (Ellen Hollman) beautiful spring wedding, however, Sam reencounters her ex-boyfriend, James (Brandon Routh), a surprise guest at the event. But Samantha isn't the only one in this marriage with a wandering eye, because Mason begins flirting heavily with the 18-year-old Olivia (Shoshana Bush); the committed scribe and his younger paramour sneak into the hot tub for a particularly steamy encounter. Later spotted by Mason as she attempts to slink out of James' room undetected, Samantha decides to coming clean about the affair. Mason's response proves entirely unexpected. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This movie explores the lives of a couple who have an open relationship. It's nicely done, but if the idea of an open relationship doesn't shock you it's just not that exciting.

I did like the ending, though.

Interesting story plot that centralizes around a young couple who embrace open relationships, but when various troubles arises. The solidarity of their relationship is tested. Brandon Routh, Courtney Ford, and Steve Sandvoss stars. Worthy!

It's all about young people having a relationship with someone... and everyone with one small condition. NEVER LIE.

At first, everything was a mess in the movie. you'd go like, what the fuck? "that's his girlfriend so why is she fcking brandon routh" but when you reach the middl... read moree of the film, you'd realize that it isn't all about playing the field. it talks of trust and being open with your partner. nomatter how much you consent that she sleep with another guy, if she's not meant for you then there's nothing you can do about it. my advice:

IF YOU LOVE HER, AND SHE LOVES SOMEONE ELSE, LET HER GO
IF SHE COMES BACK, ACCEPT HER
IF SHE COMES BACK AND LOVES SOMEONE AGAIN ELSE, LET HER GO AGAIN.

I know it doesn't make sense but what the fck, steven spielberg doesn't read my reviews anyways. i like the ending. Plus, even though there're a lot of unnecessary sex scenes, like when mason was humphing the couch to turn on sam, i mean for a guy watching the movie, that's like, SUPER GAY, but still, it made sense. you just cant' have them all.

Not the worst portrayal of an open relationship (though not the most flattering either)... but does illustrate a few of the rules which should not be broken: no dating (3ways are best), keep equal standards (got mad at him for not using protection, but she didn't either), couples... read more' agreements come before all others (don't make promises to the fling that hurt the relationship), and don't keep secrets.

In the end straight men will stay with a futureless relationship (and marriage wouldn't have been a possibility anyway since she didn't believe in marriage!) just to get sex and babies complicate straight relationships (though I guess pets can complicate gay ones too!).

As far as using people as toys -- everyone uses everyone (for love, meaning, belonging, security, etc) -- as long as they know what they are getting into and the understanding is clear and upfront (which means being honest and upfront about what you are bring to the table and what you are looking for).

You can't own anyone or completely have them -- you get what they choose to give.

Interesting to watch, I would never agree to a relationship like that, for obvious reasons, which ended up blowing up in there faces. Ok to watch
