Jack is emotionally at the mercy of his mother (Anita Gillette) and his fiancée Celeste (Maureen Mueller), while his booking agent Walter (Jeremy Piven) keeps promising him bigger and better things that don't materialize. Jack has grown up believing that his father died before he was born while trying to rescue a drowning child, but he learns that was not the case at all -- Dad spent a long career working as a circus clown, and died only a few weeks ago. However, Dad was kind enough to bequeath Jack a large stack of debts and his only tangible asset, an Indian elephant named Vera (Tia). Jack is in no position to keep a pachyderm at home, and he has two options for getting rid of the animal -- sell Vera to Terry (Linda Fiorentino), a mean spirited animal trainer, or donate her to Mo (Janeane Garofalo), a zoologist who hopes to return her to the wilds. Either way, Jack has to get Vera from the East Coast to California, and in order to make an important speaking engagement, he and the elephant have five days to cross the country.     I liked Bill Murray a lot in this movie, and didn't think it was nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.

    I liked this movie. It's a sweet comedy. Matthew McConaughey as Tip Tucker, fits him because he is over the top.

    Imagine a comedy with no jokes, where Bill Murray looks bored to death and hangs out with an elephant...imagine the most humdrum 90 minutes of your life, and then imagine its even dumber than the premise "Bill Murray hangs out with an Elephant" would lead you to believe.     A hilarious adventure story of a man who's father he's never met passes away and he inherits a 8000 lb. circus elephant named Vera. Bill Murphy as he only can, takes you on a heart-warming adventure of a man and an elephant finding out who he is.

    Came during that time between Groundhog Day and Lost in Translation when Bill Murray's career stunk like the crap this elephant left on the floor.

    Yeah...I saw it. I was sad when I thought he was going to lose his elephant.

    Bill Murray was collecting a paycheck, and seemed somewhere else during most of the movie. Whacked out on xanox maybe...so how do you think that made the elephant feel.

    The elephant was great...I emp... read moreathized. Everything else sucked.

    omg..this is funny...the part where hes driving the big rig and he hits the lever while driving...OMG...it was priceless...i couldnt stop crying from laughing so hard...lol

Of course, the elephant Vera keeps sticking her trunk in where it isn't wanted, literally consuming tons of candy and stepping on Murray's cellular phone. Ha ha. Full Review
