This is one of the coolest, most interesting, and unique films that I've seen in quite some time, possibly (maybe) ever. To simply, this is a feature length version of the "Dawn of Man" segment from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It takes places (likely) in what is now Europe, only 80,00... read more

A stupid artsy type of movie without any real dialogue or story. I didn't get it! I hate this movie, and I do not recommend seeing it.

What a cool film. I stayed away from this for years thinking it would be dull with so little dialogue. Au contraire! Held my attention completely. Rae Dawn Chong was excellent, as was Ron Perlman, although (bless his heart) he doesn't really need all that much makeup to play a ca... read more

The sole "prehistoric movie" to assemble the human instinct on species still immature of their physical identity.Warriors, mammals, united or separated,it's a pretty engaging motion picture by Annaud,so don't even bother watching Emmerich's blockbuster atrocity.

With a realistic feel to the film, this movie about three prehistoric tribesman looking for fire to bring back to their tribe is amazing. An oscar winning film with a poetic intensity to it. A very great film!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These characters and their quest began to grow on me, and by the time the movie was over I cared very much about how their lives would turn out. Full Review
''Quest for Fire'' is more than just a hugely enterprising science lesson, although it certainly is that. It's also a touching, funny and suspenseful drama about prehumans. Full Review
stylish but bizarre
Quest for Fire boldly states its claims to dance along the abyss of the ridiculous. Full Review
Quest for Fire takes us back 80,000 years to probe early human aggression, territoriality, dominance and education. Full Review
Despite the film's occasional goofy turns, by the end, chances are, you'll be rooting for the Ulam to work out that nifty little stick-rubbing trick for themselves. Full Review
Not to everyone's taste, certainly, but those of an anthropological bent will appreciate Quest For Fire's admirably detailed portrayal of early man's struggles for survival. Full Review
