This movie should have been called "Try to Figure Out the Incomprehensible Plot". Even after piecing together the story from fragmented flashbacks, you're still left wondering about the significance of certain characters, and scenes. All this is a shame, since the production desi... read moregn is excellent, the basic story is original and has tons of potential, and the first 20 minutes give you a taste of what could have been a great flick. Really lame soundtrack, to boot.

Dong-oh Jo's The Restless is a film that crosses a number of genres very successfully.

The concept of the 1 hour 40 minute plot is interesting and the film takes advantage of it visually. The various and colorful settings make this a picture worth looking at. As for th

... read moree pacing, it does get quite slow, especially in the second half. However, in the early going it tends to move a little quicker.

There is a moderate volume of action and a ton of effects to go around. The choreography for the martial arts is quite good, although the camerawork and editing isn't the greatest. The fights are also a bit quick themselves. The CG is fantastic and it adds to the visual splendor of the film. The disintegration and ash effects are worthy of note.

A lot of time is taken up by Woo-sung Jung and the lovely Tae-hee Kim, and both do what is necessary to carry this picture. Jun-ho Heo and Sang-wook Park make formidable villains for the two heroes.

The visuals and story concept are enough to make The Restless worth checking out. So grab a sword and enter Midheaven.

Cute Fantasy Movie. Pretty enjoyed it but easily forgetable.

Sadly average. I really thought this was going to be some epic. The music of the film by Shiro Sagisu feels like it should be a bigger film, but the story and the dialogue are just average. The cinematography is the best part of the film, the director shows so much with the posit... read moreioning of the actors and the vibrant colors and gorgeous locations keep you watching til the end.

It's good enough for a Saturday afternoon watch, when you're feeling kind of lazy, pop this in and it will be fine enough, just keep you expectations low.

Kudos to the graphical effects and costume designers. This period fantasy piece has a very polished feel, particularly for an asian production, however the mid-heavenly plot is somewhat confusing and disjointed. Nonetheless, I was in the mood for this genre one lazy sunday aftern... read moreoon, and this CG-fest was a winner!

The Restless is set in fantasy world for souls that have passed away long before they are reincarnated

It's a pretty mediocre film, from the makes-your-head-scratch plot to the uncanny Snape from Harry Potter lookalike bad guy. Oh, and did I mention its predictability? No?
However, the visuals are amazing and the battle scenes are great. If you want a halfway-decent film for a bor... read moreing summer, here you go.
