Johnny English is a horrible attempt at doing yet another parody of James Bond. The genre had been parodied with the superior Austin Powers, but it seems like they needed yet another spoof flick to make a bit more money. This film fails at delivering effective laughs. Rowan Atkin... read more

Spoof spy movie. Rowan is an inept spy who causes havoc wherever he goes. John is the bad guy who steals the crown jewels and wants to become King of England.

This is just good old family fun. It's just funny...that's all there is to say

Acceptable family entertainment. The moments that miss drag the film down, but the moments that hit are enough to keep this on its feet...for kids anyway.

October 22, 2011fb733768972"Johnny English" has no interesting characters, besides Rowan Atkinson, and the fact that I laughed maybe twice, makes this a film that truly wastes it's star powered cast. You can see the comedy coming from a mile away, the dialogue that drives the film seems to be a complete st... read more

Well seeing as the sequel is out now I thought I would revisit this original comedy but I was disappointed with how badly this has aged and how lame it is. The film of course is a 'Bond' spoof which in hand is so so so unoriginal and boring as its been done to death many times wh... read more

An entertaining if slightly silly film. It has its fair share of funny moments for all, one all the family can enjoy.

Despite the critics despising it, Johnny English has to be one of my favourite films. The reason you can watch it again and again and again, yet it never fails to make me laugh and almost choke to death.
It's not a masterpiece, there's no fantastic cinematography, incredible scr... read more -
July 22, 2011fb535316333Spy spoof that dabbles in outdated Mr.Bean-esque humor. We move from one skit to the next as everything is hung loosely on the context of this silly "story". Rarely remarkable and chalk full of cheap laughs.
Atkinson either needs to get some wittier writers or retire.

There weren't enough good laughs for me to recommend it to anyone other than the most devoted Beanheads. Full Review
[A] completely unnecessary and nearly chuckle-free spy movie spoof ... Full Review
So much of Johnny English should be funnier than it is. Full Review
The spy-spoof genre is old hat ... but Atkinson is such an inventive, endearing clown that one doesn't mind. Full Review
A slight tee-hee of a comedy that, like a bargain wine, induces a wince on first sip but finishes well.
It's all safe, predictable stuff -- so predictable that the only people who won't have things figured out 10 minutes into the film are those who left after five. Full Review
The best feature based on a TV commercial I've seen all year. Full Review
