'The Prisoner (aka Island of Fire)' Captures the Attention In Spurts

I knew going in this isn't typical Jackie, or even very good Jackie, but it is on my dwindling list of unseen Jackie. Basically he appears in it as a 'favor' to a shifty filmmaker named Jimmy Wang Yu and has a... read morebout a quarter of the screentime. More heavy drama than humor, but you still get Sammo Hung and a host of other usual HK suspects, and you can play "spot the Cool Hand Luke scene" as a drinking game. Unique feature: Jackie gets gunned down, where else are you gonna see that? At worst, surely it's still a helluva lot better than any Van Damme/Chuck Norris/Steven Seagal greatest hits package.

not one of the best jackie chan movies i have ever seen as he was hardly in it..the co acting and stunts were very well done by sammo hung and tony leung. anytime sammo is in one of his movies he provides the humorous backbone. i did not like how jackie chan played a very little ... read morerole in the movie and the movie mostly focused on the problems of sammo hung and tony leung. it wasnt until the end (which sort of didnt make sense) that they were all united in the movie. the storyline had some good parts and some not so good parts. i liked the prision idea and some of the fights, i did not like however, the way in which the prision was corrupt and they faked peoples deaths to make them hitmen..just needed a little different twist i thought.

What happens when you get three of Hong Kong's most talented martial arts' stars put into one film? Well, it could have been good, but it wasn't. Awful directing, terrible plot, and hardly any fighting to be found. However, this film reminds me a lot of Shawshank Redemption, so a... read moret least it spurns pleasant thoughts such as those.

Jackie was great in this movie. Too bad he wasn't in it more. Not really a Jackie Chan movie. More of a ensemble of martial art stars.
Fun movie to watch. I wish that it had a little more action though.

Not a JAckie Chan movie. He's only a cameo. Some decent fighting, but a nonsense plot.
