A man learns about life and love from someone who has only so much of each to spare in this romantic comedy-drama. Jack (Freddie Prinze Jr.) is an advertising executive in his early Thirties who has g... read more read more...rown jaded before his time; he devotes his life to his work but doesn't believe in it, and is trapped in a cycle of habits and routines. One day, Jack meets Jill (Taryn Manning), a beautiful young woman who clearly has no idea how to get around New York; Jack helps give her directions and is soon taken by her charm and enthusiasm for life, even if he's too cynical to share her sunny optimism. Learning that Jill needs a place to stay, Jack offers to let her stay at his place, and while the arrangement is meant to be platonic, it doesn't take long for a romance to blossom between them. Jill encourages them to develop a manifesto for responsible and compassionate living and Jack's heart begins to open up, but when Jill begins disappearing in the evenings he suspects that something is wrong. While Jack imagines at first that Jill's met someone else, the truth is more serious -- she's living with cystic fibrosis and despite regular treatments has only so much time left. Jack and Jill Vs. The World was written, produced and directed by Vanessa Parise, who also appears in the supporting cast with Robert Forster and Charles Martin Smith. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Didn't mind this one. Harmless piece of fluff. I didn't buy Freddie and Taryn as a couple at all though. I actually don't mind her as an actress, but she does seem a little brassy for this role. Having said that, she is very good in it as is Freddie.

Typical FPJ movie...he's just not a very good actor. Tarryn Manning is actually pretty bad too. Some parts were cute/funny, but it was blah for the most part.

An interesting movie with a good story plot. A bit on the quirky side, although it lacks a bit of chemistry between the two. Interesting characters, but the two appear more as friends than lovers. Not bad. It's great to see Freddie Prinze Jr. in a movie like this again. An enjoya... read moreble character. Wow!! Just learned something here, Hannah Lochner and I both have the same birthday.

The two main characters didn't have no chemistry at all. Freddie Prinze Jr. looked good as usual. His love interest was hiddeous.

Interesting movie, not my favorite but pretty good. It had an interesting plot but I'm not sure I could completely buy it.

So when I was at the library, I saw this movie on the new release rack and thought "Hey, FPJ movies are always good to kill some time with" and wow was I ever wrong.
Freddie Prince Jr stars as Jack, a New York City advertising exec. who's life is just like the ads he spins. Whi... read morele Taryn Manning as Jill is a free spirit who instantly connects with Jack.
And after the introductions of the characters is where the good part of the movie ends. It's your typical love story with rules added to it, and the number 1 rule is HONESTY. As usual the girl breaks it right off the back.
Now I can understand why Jack gets upset when he finds out the big "suprise" and why Jill lied to him, but only for a minute. Most people should comfort that person but Jack was pretty much an ass. And then you have your typical ending where he goes to apologize in a big way and they drive off into the nyc sunset.
The fact is, most of FPJ movies are fluff but this one was just horrible. And Taryn Manning is a horrible actress and should just stick to singing. Be wary of this film, for it will steal 89 mins of your life where you could be doing something else.

One more adorable chick flick to add to my collection. This was one of the better ones in my opinion because of the neurotic behaviors of the female lead character. The cast consisted of some very strange characters and it was delightful. One thing made me very crazy - the very l... read morearge and very obvious tattoo on Prinze Jr.'s arm kept switching arms!

Why do romantic movies need to be such downers? Typical boy with attachment issues, meets girl who is carefree. They fall in love, but girl got secret. Girl sick (dying) tells boy. Boy gets mad, girl leaves. Boy realizes he is a jerk. Boy searches for girl, apologizes. Boy and Gi... read morerl happy again. Bla Bla Bla

So think this is a movie that didn't get any publicity & I just happened to glance at it the movie store, picking it up only to notice Freddie Prinze Jr. has gained a little weight. Then I realized Taryn Manning was in it also. So it had me sold.

Didn't really know what to exp... read moreect from this movie, but after watching it I had a different sense about things. I thought it was really good. It had been awhile since I had seen a good romantic movie! I loved how both characters were total opposites. As much as I hate to admit, I liive more like Jack & would love to live more like Jill.

It left me with good feelings & there were so many good moments, I can't explain. I loved the whole idea behind it & the whole manifesto idea. Think that is why the relationship worked!

Parise no doubt intends the pic's attention to the disease -- plus animal adoption and fair trade coffee -- to be socially enlightening, but it feels suspiciously like sympathy-mongering. Full Review
