And Linus makes preparations for the arrival of The Great Pumpkin, whom he believes will rise from the pumpkin patch and deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls. At episode's end, Charlie Brown finds himself with a trick-or-treat bag full of rocks; Snoopy once more fails to bring the Red Baron to heel; and Linus spends the entire night in the pumpkin patch, waiting in vain for the arrival of the Great Pumpkin ("But just wait till next year!") The second of Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez' animated Peanuts specials, the 30-minute It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown was first telecast October 27, 1966. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

If you like the comics and haven't seen the movies this is a good one to start with, especial... read morely around Halloween time.

I recommend the "Robot Chicken" take-off of t... read morehis, where the Great Pumpkin manifests itself and creates havoc for the Peanuts gang.

May not be one of the better Charlie Brown specials but it sure is a great celebration of not just the Autumn season, but of Halloween and what a little faith in the tradition can do to a young child... Full Review

Director Bill Melendez concentrates on atmosphere more than anything else; he sets up unrelated jokes, or simply enjoys watching the autumn leaves fall gently to the ground. Full Review
