Another biographic on American football since Gridiron Gang, but this is really magnificent true story of a dedicated fan who puts everything on the line to live the ultimate sports fantasy: playing for his favourite pro team.
Mark Wahlberg makes an awesome performance as... read more -
December 1, 2010fb733768972Invincible is definitely not anything special, and everyone will forget about it in about 10 years from now. Didn't want to watch it due to the excess of inspirational sport films, unending underdog stories. Got pulled into this one, it's stuffed with Wahlberg magic and is memorable for being spoofed by It's Always Sunny.

Mediocre at best...Can't compare to the likes of "Remeber the Titans" or "The Blind Side".

this is a solid flick. ive become a bit numb to sports movies over the years because of their predictable formulas, and although this followed many of those, i enjoyed it. it was shot well and entertained.

As cliched as sports movies can come, but you can get around that with good performances. It's a pretty entertaining movie and captures the spirit of the time period well. Worth it if you like sports movies.

A pretty solid inspirational sports flick with Mark Wahlberg in the lead. He plays Philly's local hero Vince Papale who started out as a bartender and made his way through NFL. A true underdog story based on a true story. If it comes to sports in films, you'll never go wrong with... read more

Even Papale's most famous play, recovering a fumble to set up a touchdown, is embellished, as if Disney can't bear to stick with the facts. Full Review
When it's good it's very good. When it's bad -- well, it's still pretty good. Full Review
Invincible is a working-class jock Cinderella fantasy with the sincerity of a beer commercial, the soul of a Republican incumbent, and the designer-flannel esthetics of an old Bruce Springsteen video. Full Review
It may not break new ground, but Invincible is an entertaining film, awash in clichés but leavened by the charismatic performance of Mark Wahlberg as Vince Papale. Full Review
What's modestly refreshing about the way this story is told by director Eric Core and writer Brad Gann, is that the person with the largest doubts about going pro is Papele himself. Full Review
The movie is shamelessly manipulative. Full Review
It has been done so many times, and so often by Disney, that the real surprise in a movie like this is when it does manage to surprise. Full Review
A generic series of pep talks and rock-pumped montages. The only thing missing is a Rocky shot of the character racing up steps. Full Review
Wahlberg and his co-stars, including love interest Elizabeth Banks, really seem to believe in the story, with a grave intensity that enhances its underdog appeal. Full Review
