I saw this a while ago and it just seemed to be a random mishmash of home video footage, concert performances and odd, random footage. An obvious must for Fugazi fans and even those who are curious but by no means required viewing.

Ian MacKaye, from legendary punk band Minor Threat, continued to make music in the post-punk era. Here is a documentary that takes a look at the history of underground band Fugazi, a politically minded punk rock band that was putting out their own albums and booking their own sh... read moreows since their start in 1987. I've seen their live show with the energy it contained that made the audience a part of the experience and not just spectators. No merchandise sold at their shows, no fancy lights, no high ticket prices. Just 4 musicians on stage and auditoriums packed with fans of good music with a conscience. 5 dollars got you in the door from the beginning in 1987 to the last shows around early 2002. That's a punk attitude I'd like to see these so-called "punks" of today try and pull off without plush tour busses.

A well done, engaging look at a band that had the D.I.Y. attitude and made great music on their own terms and continued to grow and expand their talents as musicians.

Instrument is everything i expected a documentary about the mighty Fugazi to be, artistic, vague, educational, and a DYI feel to it. Fugazi never marketed themselves. Their values and beleifs would never be anyones profit. Hell they really never profited, so anything thing on the... read more band has always been practically impossible to find. I always loved the fact that Ian would charge a question fee when interveiwed. For every question you had to pay him. The only way to ever "get to know the band" would be through their music and their music only. So i was really happy to finally see this film for a band ive followed since their incarnation. And as cool as it was to see Fugazi behind the scenes i gotta admit feeling a bit bummed by the fact that any time there was a performance the song they would be playing is never shown in whole.. Theres some great concert footage here and you get to see half of a song!? And for a film thats practically 2 hrs long theres no reason to not show some of these performances all the way through.
    Fugazi fans need only apply
