Being a fan of the cartoon growing up, I was interested in seeing this. I saw it when it was released, and boy did it suck. This film really scraps the bottom of the barrel. The film has a paper thin plot, a pretty bad cast and above all, bad directing. The film is plainly stupid... read more

You know, I never saw the "Inspector Gadget" cartoon. I am 14, so it was WAY before my time. Maybe it was amazing, maybe it was gruesomly unfunny, I have no idea. What I do know was that the movie was down right awful. Not at all funny, horrible acting, completely unmenacing vill... read more

INSPECTOR GADGET really isn't that great of a film. Sure, it has Matthew Broderick, who we know to be hysterically funny from FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, but this one sort of misses its mark as a silly kids' movie.

Critic Reviews
Gizmos and villains are delightful!
Although it's quick, mischievous and full of visual trickery, there's not much magic in Inspector Gadget. Full Review
Watching Inspector Gadget is like watching a human Swiss Army knife for nearly an hour and a half. Full Review
Inspector Gadget demonstrates how a movie with little more on its mind than tickling the eyeballs of 7-year-olds can feature spiffy, jack-in-the-box special effects and still end up a dud. Full Review
Disney has struck once again, taking a passably entertaining cartoon and turning it into a motion picture so lifeless that it's almost unwatchable. Full Review
Exceptionally pleasant, and there's just enough humor to make it enjoyable for adults. Full Review
Inspector Gadget is a joyless and charmless disaster! Full Review
The movie feels like a demonstration reel for toys, action figures and future DisneyQuest installations.
