Nia and john are good together but recreating the sparks of My Big Fat...fails here. It has it's moments.

Okay but overly silly rom com. For a film with such a short running time it seems to take a long time to get where it's going and the supporting cast of supposedly quirky characters are never fleshed out enough to make them endearing just weird.

The most positive thing I can say is that Nia Vardalos is so psychotically smiley, (and, as someone else has noted in their review - corny. Yes, that's the perfect word for her acting and the character), in this that it made me forget how much John Corbett annoys me. He actually... read more

I Hate Valentine's Day is a movie about a lonely woman falls in love on the day she dreads the most and experiences all the elements of a relationship, from chance meeting through divorce, within the space of a single February 14th. What can I say, if the movie's name is I Hate ... read more

Sweet romantic-comedy with the re-united two stars from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Despite the fact that it follows the usual formulaic plot, it is still a pleasant and joyful film to watch. The leading lady being a florist helps enhance the romantic mood, leaving viewers w... read more

Vardalos needs to do a film that has a good screenplay. The film feels like a flat sitcom. On the positive, Vardalos and Corbett shine in the film and have a great on screen chemistry. The film needed a rewrite. I thought this was better than Connie and Carla. However, I thought ... read more

However as long as Nia Vardalos keeps putting out films then I will watch them, becasue they are always a great date movie to watc... read more

A charmless rom-com about an exhaustingly vivacious florist. Full Review
I found it to be really one note. This is not authentic modern courtship. Full Review
Everyone who's ever seen a movie knows where this is headed... but getting there is breezy, fun, and most importantly, well-executed. Full Review
All I Hate Valentine's Day adds up to is an awkward, ritualized date between moviegoer and a still-learning triple hyphenate. Full Review
What it lacks in laughs -- there are none -- it tries to make up for by ladling on stale clichés, such as Vardalos' two stereotypically gay assistants and a desperate younger female friend who stalks ... Full Review
For I Hate Valentine's Day, Vardalos has chosen to direct. And that's a mistake that only compounds the ones in her screenplay. Full Review
The movie is set up as a valentine to Vardalos. She should try sending herself flowers. Full Review
You might blame Nora Ephron, whose screenplay for When Harry Met Sally established the formula that I Hate Valentine's Day runs into the ground. Compared with this, Ms. Ephron is Chekhov.
Nia Vardalos wrote, directed and stars in this clunky, unfunny and plodding mess. She doesn't write dialogue, she writes shtick. Her direction seems awkward and amateurish, her acting is more like mug... Full Review
