Charlie Sheen returns as the lunk-headed Topper Harley, who has retreated to a Buddhist monastery after being dumped by Ramada Rodham Hayman (Valerie Golino). In this far-off retreat, the monks have "taken a vow of celibacy, just like their fathers and their fathers before them." But Topper bulks up and goes back into action when his superior officer, Colonel Denton Walters (Richard Crenna) is captured by a Saddam Hussein look-alike, missing somewhere between "Iraq and a Hard Place." Topper charges into Iraq (after barreling through a Beverly Hills barbecue) along with sexy CIA operative Michelle Rodham Huddleston (Brenda Bakke) in tow, his guns ablazing. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

Sequel to Hot Shots! is just as funny as the first film. As far as spoof films are concerned, the Hot Shot films are some of the best along with Airplane! Though not as great as Airplane! There is plenty to enjoy about these films. Unlike the first Hot Shots! Which parodied only ... read moreTop gun, Hot Shots! Part Deux parodies the action genre in general. The humor is pretty funny, and silly. But it's all in good fun. The film is a good spoof of the action genre, and it's fairly underrated. If you've enjoyed the first, then you're most likely going to enjoy this sequel. Most of the cast of the first return, but in different roles. As far as a spoof film is concerned, Hot Shots! Part Deux is one of the last good spoof films to come out, as the Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer spoof films are some of the worst ever made. At least this film is a fine end to the real spoof genre. Obviously the cast play a series of inept characters that are caricatures of every action film character. Hot Shots! Part Deux is a fun spoof comedy that brings on good laughs, and though it's not perfect, it's far better than the recent spoof films such as Date Movie and Epic Movie. This is a fairly well made comedy with tons of amusing references to other films. The cast hold the film together and they're all amusing in their own right. I really enjoyed this film, and though it's equally good as the original, I preferred this one. But both films are very funny, and this is a film that fans of the first should check out if they already haven't. If they did, it's a film worth revisiting. Tons of fun for sure.

Why did I rate this movie so low? I seriously can't remember this movie, but it looks okay, I'll have to watch it again.

This is the STEPMOTHER of all Movies. The prequel was Fun as much as the Sequel.

Let it be etched on stone: Since HOT SHOTS! PART DEUX was released American comedy cinema has been in a steep decline. Part of the reason for this is that HOT SHOTS! PART DEUX is an Everest of film-making that has yet to been scaled since. And once you reach the peak the only way... read more is down. HOT SHOTS! PART DEUX has everything. It is the most consistently side-splittingly funny film since Chaplin and Keaton at their peak. It is the most devastating and uplifting story of love, war and sacrifice since CASABLANCA and it has rip-roaring action scenes (Die! Energizer! Bunny! Die!) on par with the mighty movies it is (lovingly) parodying. Charlie Sheen, despite his off-screen propensities, has always been an agreeable screen presence and here he delivers his performances for the ages. Valeria Golino is a goddess for all the ages and also displays impeccable comedic skills. She also kicks a considerable amount of butt without ever losing her grace and femininity. This is quite possibly the last great American female role with substance to it and sadly none have close since.

When people consider the great sequels of all time, usually they pick THE GODFATHER PART II. Then I think to myself - Why pick the three-hour plus GODFATHER PART II when a hundred times more out of the 90 minute HOT SHOTS PART DEUX? Does THE GODFATHER PART II have Al Pacino using a chicken as an arrow? No! So when you are looking at your shiny DVD collection and thinking "I think I'll watch a GODFATHER movie" my advise is to pick up HOT SHOTS PART DEUX and watch it... twice. The only way this film could be any better is if Miguel Ferrer had more screen time. That guy is a Plato of modern times. "War. It's fantastic!" Even Rowan Atkinson is funny in this film. Let's see Ingmar Bergman pull that feat off!

Although very forgettable and not as funny as the first "Hot Shots!", this movie is still sporadically hilarious and occasionally way too stupid. Fun for a while, but certainly missable.

hilarious, in a word. very clever and surprisingly better than the first. kiss me like you never have before, brilliant

This actually beats the original for sheer hilarious moments. The gun battle midway is sooo good, taking off Rambo all over the place. The begining sequence with Sheen fighting is another great lampoon, the cast is good and it looks cool. Rambo has never been so good. Brilliant spoof. Right on target with Rambo III, No Way Out, Basic Instinct, and more. All clever gags.
