Three twentysomethings learn the hard way about how to behave in a cemetery in this independent horror story. After attending Devin's funeral, the three stage an impromptu wake at a nearby roadhouse, and after lots of drinking they return to his grave to pay their final respects. Sid finds a note on Devin's grave which contains what appear to be lyrics to a song; the revelers begin singing the song and dancing around the cemetery, trampling the nearby graves. It isn't long before Devin's friends discover they've made a serious mistake; the poem they sang was actually a magic spell, and by reciting it as they disrespect the dead they've awakened angry spirits, who begin terrorizing them in their homes. Worst of all, paranormal investigator Vincent (Tchéky Karyo) informs Harris that there's only one sure way to stop the ghosts from bothering them -- death. The Gravedancers received its world premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Halloween night with nothing to watch. Not exactly the best movie ever made, but better than at least 40% of horror films. Anyways, predictable, corny, and pointless. But arn't more horror movies?

From the 8 Films to die for series. Like most of the films from this series its an excellent one. Some friends get together after a funeral and dance on the grave of the recent dead. By doing so they start being eliminated one by one. Pretty creepy, 4 stars on the creep scale.

    I fun (creepy) little romp.
Some of the make-up effects were pretty cool and the acting (for the most part) was good.

All in all a little predictable, but fun.

Great horror movie! Much better than most of what's coming to the theaters these days.

I started to watch this movie, but fell asleep not even halfway through it. What does that say about it? I'm rating it based on what I saw before I drifted off.

The set-up was interesting - promising, even - but the film didn't quite live up to the expectations. The ghosties were cool - especially the male ghost - everything else just sucked.

    *SLIGHTLY SPOILERISH*

The ending with the gigantic head, reminiscent slightly of the spook in... read more Poltergeist, was wonderful in a nostalgic kind of a way. The beginning, the angle from which it was shot, was also simply beautiful.

PS. Why was that one guy constantly telling everybody his name? Ok, Vincent is a lovely name, I'll give you that, but it isn't THAT lovely.

I was not expecting much since the other films in the '8 Film To Die For' have been anything but and director Mike Mendez's last film 'The Convent' was pure crap. Gravedancers however is a solid little gem of a ghost story complete with a decent cast, original material and a few ... read moregenuine scares. Will watch this one again for sure.

A nice mixture of a film. It begins as your usual clcihed horror nonsense, and then moves into something a bit more original that really gets you hooked just before climaxing in an ending of OTT excess with is reminiscent of The Frighteners and Ghostbusters. It's enjoyable, it's ... read morefunny and at times it is very very creepy. Especially the look of the dead. It also encorporates some old school tools like pop-up corpses. Unfortunately there is too much wrong with this film including poor acting and dodgy editing, which makes use of child-like transitions. At least this is a film that knows what it wants.

Fun. Shows that you can make a fun indie horror film without a huge budget but with plenty of ingenuity.

One of the best in the Horrorfest series.

Just when you think the film is about to run out of steam, it picks up the pace and surprises you. It's not for everyone, to be sure, but it works in its own unusual way. Full Review
