This is not a war movie... it's a movie about war. Home of the Brave has been the best movie to date on the psychological effects our soldiers endure when they return home from Iraq. It's riveting to see the demons they face. Truly inspirational... And don't worry about propag... read more

Okay plain and simple, this movie is definitely similar to the film "Raising Flagg." Average, boring, random plot line, yet it contained some strong cast members who pretty much saved this film from being a disaster. So why is this movie such a disaster, you may ask? Plain and si... read more

I thought this was a great movie. I dont know how people thought it was a flop - it shows a side of the war that many movies are afraid to tackle, the aftermath.
The movie takes an emotional ride through being there, leaving there, and surviving afterwords. It's done well and... read more -

Good film.On the lines of the deer hunter but with the war focus on Iraq and with the dealing of today. Fine performance all round, Jessica Biel prove she more than a pretty face with Sam Jackson doing a fine job.All in all a good film with a bit of through.

I didn't like the acting. It was kind of depressing, but, had some funny scenes, not sure if they were intended.

The first 45 minutes were pretty good, and Jesscica Biel's character was interesting. The rest was badly written. I still thought it was a LITTLE bit realistic, for my dad himself went in Afghanistan for six months... Could have been A LOT better

I felt this movie could have had something...more. I think it is a good story to tell but I just couldn't connect to it. The performances were lacking.

I must say the best thing about the movie is that it's interested in the soldiers, not the self-serving popinjays who seem to think the war is a big fat career-enhancing photo opportunity. The people ... Full Review
This is a solid and timely piece of work from Hollywood veteran Irwin Winkler.
The intentions are good. The actors have been assembled with care, and the production is polished. But everything feels assembled, as if it were put together from blueprints. Full Review
The kindest description of Home of the Brave, the first Hollywood movie to examine the experience of American soldiers returning from Iraq, might be that it is fueled by noble intentions.
[It] gets points for being the first movie to depict Iraq war veterans adjusting to civilian life. It loses points for being a painfully earnest and very thinly conceived update of The Best Years of O...
While Mark Friedman's script is as unsubtle as Winkler's direction, their sincerity and the subject's sharp immediacy lend the film a certain power. Full Review
[Its] mild-mannerness is especially disappointing when compared with such documentaries as The War Tapes and the excellent Home Front, vivid and incisive explorations of post-Iraq anger and disillusio... Full Review
Home of the Brave isn't exactly a subtle or a delicate picture -- it's an old-fashioned Hollywood movie, at least in tone, that's being released like an indie -- but it has some terrific acting and co... Full Review
If there's a way to do justice to the story of American troops coming home from Iraq, Home of the Brave hasn't found it. Full Review
