I had seen this movie on so many "Most Disturbing" lists that I thought, being that way inclined, that it was worth a look in. Much like "August Underground" and "Necromantik" which also appeared on very similar lists, I was not as shocked as I felt I should have been. Maybe my g... read moreeneration has become desensitised to these kind of themes but I thought it was adequatly revolting but also deeply thoughtful. The real horror in this movie is not the many gut wrenching scenes of abject threat but the underlying tone of realism that really sticks it in and breaks it off. Not the most disturbing movie I have seen by a long shot but certainly beats the shit out of some more recent movies that have been dubbed as such.

Admittedly I only decided to see this for the gore, but I didn't expect to enjoy the film as much as I did. I really enjoyed the fly-on-the-wall documentary style approach the film is shot in... made it seem all the more real. Of course the gore is present a number of times but i... read moret's not relentless and every 5 minutes. It is graphic, shocking and a bit moving too. Recommended, but it's very grim. Be warned.

Widely considered one of the world's most controversial films, Men Behind the Sun presents a gruesome depiction of a Japanese death camp in WWII.

Speaking just for myself, after witnessing limbs being severed, electrocution, urine drinking, baby killing, live human vivise... read morection, bludgeoning, freezing, skinning, crucifixion, microwaving and gassing, the part that bothered me the most is when they killed a cat. :(

Horrifying film about war atrocieties commited by the Japanese. Stomach churning moments abound along with an utter sense of doom. The director was very angry when he made this, and it shows. Could do without the real autopsy footage and the animal cruelty though.

Realistic gore, not for the squeamish. Fucked up, intense, visceral, raw and disturbingly informative.

This is the Cannibal Holocaust of the 80's Men Behind the Sun is FUCKED UP!
But what makes this even more fucked up is that it is based on true events. This one doesnt hold back on anything even little kids are fair game here.

I must admit, the gore factor is what intrigued me initially about this film. However, upon watching it I thought it had a lot of potential to be a harrowing indictment of war atrocities committed against the Chinese. Unfortunately, it never quite found its bearings between com... read morepelling drama and balls-out gore, some of which is real (the autopsy was a cadaver, and the animal cruelty was very real). I feel that with some tweaking and rewriting (as well as a bigger budget) this truly could have been something incredible. As it is, worth a look for its more shocking moments, if you have the stomach for it.

One seriously screwed up movie! this Hong Kong made horror drama is based on actual events that occured before the last days of WWII as the Japs torture the Chinese and Russaians for sick twisted experiments.

Gory as hell and powerful yet sad at times too, hard to watch at tim... read morees but should be viewed if you like history and horror.
