Adam Sandler's second popular starring vehicle after Billy Madison is a goofy lowbrow paean to golf, hockey, and the comic hysterics of its childlike star. In Happy Gilmore, Sandler plays the title ch... read more

April 19, 2012fb729949618Quick witted humor throughout which I really liked. It was also fast paced and straight to the point, no extra long time developing a story line. All in all, I liked the film, but I don't place it on a high pedestal like other people seem to do. Also, something I noticed to be ex... read more

There are a lot of memorable scenes in Happy Gilmore and a few bits are full of the Sandler charm. Undeniably, it's very silly and the film's premise is quite simply an excuse for Adam Sandler to do his t... read more -

Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) is a naïve, hot-headed man who has lived his entire life aspiring to be a professional hockey player. Upon playing golf one day, his peers come to discover that he can drive a golfball farther than anyone in the world. At first reluctant, Happy de... read more

To call this movie a classic is an understatement. It is, in fact, the best (if not the only decent) film with Adam Sandler as a lead. Happy Gilmore is comedy gold. I'll start this review with my favorite scene: Sandler's character is partners with Price is Right host Bob Barker;... read more

Tried ever so hard to be funny, tried ever so hard to be a good, funny film, yet it just fell short of many people's standards.

It's ok with a few funny scenes, not quite sure why it's held in such high regard by many?! The sight of Sandler losing it with the clubs and smashing stuff up is over used. A has the odd moment that will make you laugh out loud, but a long shot short of a classic! Odd to see Ben... read more

This movie is a classic, but if it wasnt so disgusting I wouldve loved it more. The writers were good in this film, they wrote good jokes and put in classic scenes. Adam Sandler was great, might be his best performance. The grossness of the film was very high however, there we... read more

Looking back at Adam Sandler's career, of all the films that he has done, 95% of them have been crap. For the exception of a few. One of those films is Happy Gilmore. This has got to be the best film that Adam Sandler has starred in. He plays a failed hockey player who enrolls in... read more

If you like Sandler, stupid comedies, and sports (even if you hate golf) you will enjoy this movie. There is an interesting cast, including some cameos from celebrities. This movie isn't brilliant, but it's a lot of fun.

The lines from this film are amazing. 'I eat shit like you for breakfast.' 'You eat shit for breakfast?' You can't help but fall in love with Adam Sandler everytime you watch his films. He makes awful actors and actresses incredible in the films he appears in. A must watch film w... read more
Critic Reviews
There are about three minutes of funny material in Happy Gilmore, and pretty much all of them are in the trailer. Full Review
It may smell awful from a distance, especially if you have low tolerance for lowbrow humor, but up close this yarn about an unlikely golf star is fairly painless. Full Review
You don't feel that Sandler and director Dennis Dugan are trying for the kind of subversiveness that might just make Happy's brutal anarchy more effective. Full Review
Happy's tantrums, which the movie pretends are liberating explosions of self-expression, aren't nearly maniacal enough to reach comic delirium. Full Review
Sandler plays this a lot smarter than, say, a Jim Carrey character, and with less slapstick. Still, this is not delicate, subtle stuff: It's smart low-brow, and only for those who like their humor a b...
The story has all the thickness of a well-trimmed green, but it's a decent excuse for some heady sight gags.
The Happy Gilmore character is strange. I guess we are supposed to like him. Full Review
Happy Gilmore may not be an ace in the hole, but it beats par by a long shot. Full Review
Sandler's movie is worth a few laughs, but not many of the comic sequences are original, and even fewer are inspired. Full Review
