I both like and dislike this film. I love Clyde and Gypsy, but I hated the shit they got put through, and that the ending was more realistic than a proper happy ending. That's life I guess.

[font=Century Gothic]"Gypsy 83" is about the token outsiders of Sandusky, Ohio. Gypsy(Sara Rue) is a 25 year old Stevie Nicks clone(I'm actually more of a Christine McVie person myself) who works at a local photo developer and drives a classic Trans Am. Her mom abandoned her 18... read more

While there are multiple indie films with very similar plots/themes, this was still rather touching and fun to watch.

I vaguely remember seeing this before, but for the life of me I can't remember the circumstances except that it might have been following a bad breakup from a relationship too long gone. And there's symmetry for me with that in this film; I felt the pain of Gypsy's and Clive's l... read more

Wasn't the wrost film ever. But wasn't the best. It had it good and bad. The music was great, but found it hard to care for the people in it.

hypnotic, i love gothic looks and clothing... nothing like a tight black corset to brighten my day and more men should were black eyeliner, it is so erotic.
Critic Reviews
A mostly undistinguished addition to the long list of films about alienated and self-pitying young people. Full Review
The film's main appeal stems from the two main characters, whose close relationship is well-conveyed and moving.
It is clear that as a filmmaker Todd Stephens, like his heroes and heroines, is determined to be true to himself. Full Review
Saga is especially sapped of its appeal and energy by the toxically charmless titular character whose central obsession -- dressing up like Stevie Nicks and singing her material -- is curiously wedged... Full Review
The narrative momentum may sputter, but the vivid performances keep the film from dragging. Full Review
A tiny, vulnerable, rather treacly film at heart, one that would probably float away were it not for Ms. Rue's generous presence. Full Review
It's easy to pick apart Stephens' thin script and clumsy direction. But whether you were a high school outcast or the prom queen, you're bound to root for his misfits as they find their place in the w... Full Review
A depressingly predictable journey of self-discovery.
Where Edge of Seventeen related how difficult it is to be a gay teenager in Middle America, Gypsy 83 wants us to know how painful it is to be a teenage freak in Middle America. Either way you slice it... Full Review
