January 6, 2013fb1442511448This adaptation of the 1971 musical strikes the right chords and hits all the right moves. Gracefully filled with flamboyant and electrifying singing and dancing numbers along with the charm and charisma of its two young lovers (Travolta & Newton-John), Grease is the word and the... read more

I am more of an action type of guy, but this film get a good deal of respect from me for it's originality, and the tunes are still recognised, which must mean that 33 years later, it's still remembered.

Wow. GREASE is atrociously overrated and mis-praised. And, yes, I say that after the airing of TV's worldwide annoyance GLEE. GREASE just can't be stood by me. The production is quite flamboyant (and I'm preetty sure no one dressed like THAT in the '50s), and the soundtrack is s... read more

The coolest 50s musical made post-50s! The songs are catchy, and the story is brilliant and romantic too. I love this movie, and if you like musicals you'll love it too.
Critic Reviews
Travolta is a riot. Alternately swaggering to prove his "coolness" and re-affirming his ability on the dance floor, the actor gives the kind of performance that's perfect for the role. Full Review
Grease holds up for new generations because it captures the enthusiasm of youth and the vibrancy of California's sunshine-and-cars culture. Full Review
Grease has got it, from the outstanding animated titles of John Wilson all the way through the rousing finale as John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John ride off into teenage happiness. Full Review
An unembarrassed movie musical, something my generation experienced only in Sunday-afternoon movies on TV.
Its flashy opportunism (nostalgia pitched squarely at an audience too young to even recall the era) quickly becomes very irritating. Full Review
Its sensibility is not tied to the past but to a free-wheeling, well informed, high-spirited present. Full Review
Just an average musical, pleasant and upbeat and plastic. Full Review
