Typically when you see Johnny Knoxville, you think "Jackass." That's a shame because he does a great job acting in "Grand Theft Parsons," based on a true story about Phil Kaufman and Gram Parsons. If you love music, or perhaps get intrigued by hearses and mahogany coffins, check ... read more

An insult to the legacy of Gram Parsons. The paper-thin plot is a given, but the final product is unlikable, never funny, and very cheaply produced. I don't mind Knoxville, but he's used as a puppet here, as are the fine supporting actors Michael Shannon and Robert Forster. I ... read more

This is a really great sleeper of a film, Knoxville stars as Phil Kaufman, Friend and Road-Manager of Grahm Parsons, and when Grahm dies he steals his body to bury him in the dessert the way they had promised each other.

You won't believe it, but this is a true story. This is about the death of country rock legend Gram Parsons. You won't believe it, but it all happened.

What could have served as a colorful episode in a more expansive film about the famed singer has instead become the premise of a mildly entertaining but overextended road movie that doesn't succeed on...
The Phil-Larry dynamic makes up most of the movie and the strain of turning an anecdote into an demi-epic can be felt throughout the movie. Full Review
Gram Parsons' last rites were among the most extraordinary in rock history. Too bad this retelling of the singer's final adventure is so tame. Full Review
A ho-hum, meandering road movie, albeit with an extremely cool soundtrack.
The script ... leaves a lot to be desired, strewn with dialogue as flat and stale as old beer and some invented characters who make the events depicted seem more silly than anarchic. Full Review
Since his death in 1973, the country singer Gram Parsons's legend has become a figure of worshipful legend, to which this rambling, low-key movie makes a modest contribution. Full Review
Don't let Knoxville's Jackass pedigree put you off - he can be subtle as well as gross. Full Review
