This is an amazing story told in a very heart warming, series, well acted, well written, and well made film for tv that could have been a great film on any screen. Ben Carson's story is amazing and what he has done is a true miracle and blessing backed by hard work and the faith... read more of a great mother. The movie doesn't hide the hard parts of his life or the life of his mother, but presents them in a realistic and tasteful manner. I have heard the book is better than the movie, but since the movie is amazing, the the book is a must read for me as well.

An amazing story about lifes ups and downs. Proves you can accomplish anything once you set your mind to it. Cuba Gooding Jr. is exellent as Dr. Carlson. This is an exellent moving considering it was "made for TV".

The film is poorly constructed and jolts the viewer through time at a thoughtless pace. Badly directed and overacted but it does have a well meaning message, even if it is clobbered over the viewers heads.
