This is a coming of age and coming out story, even though it is set in the U.K., is still close to something I relate to. Well written and acted. There is no drama for drama sake. Very accurate for real life gay teen experience - even down to the chubby friend-girl! I even th... read moreing from the point of the parents is well told. Loved it. Most coming out movies are cheesy or just stupid. This one has a realistic ending and good actors(:

A 10 year old film that comes across like one made 25 years ago with very high predictability throughout. A 2 star film at best, raised to 2 1/2 because Ben Silverstone, despite his age at the time, provided the only convincing part and they tried real hard to get across the hete... read morerosexism message that was a product of the late 90's.

Coming-of-age gay drama, very well acted, and it's best if all hetero couples planning on doing each other were forced to watch it - just in case. However, it fails to address the repercussions of controversial actions.

A hilarious movie about coming out and being gay. A movie from the UK but still very relatable here in the US.

I've been this girl!! What gay boy has not fallen in love with the handsome, untouchable, superjock? How many of us have had that jock and then realize he has too many issues and you end up parting company? He won't come out of the closet and yours is swung wide open. A must see ... read moremovie.

Shows how it is to try to come out and be afraid to because of what you think people might think. A must see for closet cases.

The strength of this agreeable comedy, directed by Simon Shore from a screenplay by Patrick Wilde, is that it makes even the tiniest sexual encounters seem emotionally momentous. Full Review

Shore and Wilde have done an admirable job in re-imagining Wilde's play as a movie, and they've created a wrenching, thoughtful entertainment that incorporates considerable comic relief. Full Review

Get Real is a sweet-natured coming-out comedy from England that seems to be coming out about 10 years too late. Full Review

It offers a far more realistic and compelling vision of teen-age growing pains and peer pressure than any of the recent high-school movies from Hollywood. Full Review

The movie is sound in all the right ways; it argues that we are as we are, and the best thing to do is accept that. Full Review
