Garden Party has the feel of a made-for-TV look at life in Los Angeles. The actors and actresses that we've grown accustomed to seeing in the passenger seat are given semi-leading roles. Vinessa Shaw is sexy and sultry, allowing for the possibly the only stand out performance of ... read more

Two stars is still being gracious. Weed, porn, underage drinking, porn, weed, kinky pictures and weed.

not the greatest movie, not the greatest acting, and not nearly as gritty and graphic as it seems to attempt to be this very raw kinda movie, the story however feels almost as if there is no story other than lets see six peoples lives just convinently intertwine with one another ... read more

My friends and I rented this because it looked ridiculous, and it did not disappoint. It did, however, make me lose some faith in humanity.

A day-in-the-life type indie where everyone intersects in various ways, but this is not one of those "Crash" type pictures. Two characters we have been following separately meet at a bar and start a small conversation. Nothing serious, and things don't go any further. The titular... read more

This was a lot different than I expected..It was okay. I liked some of the story aspects but overall the plot was all over the place in an annoyingly un-organized fashion. Most of the seperate story lines didn't connect so they were unnecessary. It did, however, have an interesti... read more

I thought is was a good movie, and it did just what it was supposed to. If you look past the forest you will see the trees. I saw a couple of homeless kids who although being in a bad situation made it out of the forest. It is written that the last shall be first. Now who would ... read more

Its an interesting movie but the problem is the story never goes anywhere. Just some people thrown together and there paths intertwine.

A low-rent answer to Robert Altmanā(TM)s Short Cuts.
If we're meant to take these threads as a tapestry of L.A., then Freeland clearly needs to stop watching Robert Altman DVDs and go outside to see what the real world is actually like. Full Review
Freeland's film offers a poor man's Los Angeles opus. Full Review
This ensemble piece works if you know Los Angeles. After all, it's very possible for a homeless kid, pot-smoking Realtor, young model and a number of perverts to cross paths in that town. Full Review
Sophomore writer/director Freeland doesn't quite feel like the host of this particular "garden party," but rather like the party's Sabrina, secretly spying from the sidelines. Full Review
Oddly, halfway through when Freeland strains our credulity even further, the film finally feels fresh Full Review
A bit like Robert Altman's Short Cuts (1993), taking a look at a cross-section of Los Angeles characters, though it runs less than half the length and, conversely, half the depth. Full Review
The characters aren't interesting, and the stories toggle between tawdry and ridiculous. Full Review
