The worst in a string of increasingly pointless sequels to Sean S. Cunningham's crude slasher hit, this installment provided clear evidence that the "slasher" subgenre, already creatively dead, was no... read more

Regarded by most as the worst of the series, Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan is far from the worst. Storywise and in title maybe, I'll give you that, but this film is much more well-made and more interesting than the entry before it. The supreme letdown of the film ... read more

The one where we find out that Jason's head is made out of Play-doh. one of the first people he ever killed was his dentist.

A hilarious horror epic, Jason truly takes the city by storm. There's so much anticipation to get to Manhatten, what with the whole boat trip and float to shore. It never gets old to see Jason punch the head off the cocky teenager known as Julius. Its a lot more entertaining than... read more

Another bad one in the series. Not that gory, horrible acting, horrible story, and just flat out corny. I hated how they made Jason Voorhees seem like a pissed off ghost, who could just appear and disappear at will. Bad choice. Not that good of a movie.

This ain't no love boat, and Jason is on board with one thing on his mind. The last Paramount release of the Friday The 13th franchise is actually an overlooked enjoyable film. People have strongly criticized this film because of the title, the length and other issues not worth m... read more

This is joint worst along with part 5. Jason does not take Manhattan, he kills some stupid teenage people on a boat. Why is he on the boat? Why don't people seem to care that their friends are being killed? Why don't people run away? Ugh, it?s just very very crap. Nice to get awa... read more

The title says it all. You know how bad this movie is going to be just from the title. But the title is a lie. A damn lie. A good portion of this film takes place on the Love Boat. Yes, the Love Boat. Jason kills some people until the ship sinks. He then swims to New York (actual... read more

As many have stated before me the taking of Manhattan doesn't happen until late on. It should really be titled Jason on a Boat. The film has some glimpses of Part VI's humour but nothing that great. Jason scaring some punks by taking off his mask being a highlight. It's also odd ... read more

Hands down the worst in the entire series. Acting is worse than usual, the direction is boring and unimaginative, the "plot" spends way too much time on the boat and not enough in Manhattan, Jason seems to be capable of teleportation and toxic waste turns Jason back into a little... read more

Friday the 13th part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan is the best Friday the 13th film in the series. My top three are: Part 8, part 6, and part 4. I don't know why alot of people are trashing it, but I do know that it had really good visuals and the dog was the cutest thing ever! I real... read more

Taking the serial killer and putting him on a boat isn't the silliest thing you could do -- you could always send him to space. Full Review
It's actually quite amazing that a film titled Jason Takes Manhattan never really takes place in Manhattan. At least the Muppets kept their titular promise to bite the Big Apple. Full Review
This is easily the most disappointing of the original...movies - which is quite an achievement when you consider that the overall quality of the franchise was hardly high enough to raise expectations ... Full Review
Not only are the later Friday the 13th films distasteful, but they've become so repetitive that each sequel is duller than the last. Full Review
Worst of the series, Jason doesn't really take anything.
An inscrutable narrative that pukes its way across an unforgivably long 100 minutes. Full Review
For what it's worth (very little), probably the best in the series. Full Review
Not even remotely scary, and on top of that less than 1/3 of the film takes place in New York. False advertising, I say!
Director Rob Hedden may have been onto something: From Crystal Lake to Manhattan, the series itself was always drowning in ****. Full Review
